Carenado Mooney M20R Ovation

Hdg problems in c182t. Two carenados are useless for autopilot atm

Here, after 1.9 update, at every flight all systems, avionics, instuments and even lights shut down !

I read that it was caused by the surroundinf traffic, human or AI, that could conflict with data of my aircraft… I had not this prob. with 1.8 !!!

Do you still have the options to use ā€œGeneric plane modelsā€ set to ā€œONā€ for both AI, and Multuplayer?

I flew for a couple of hours last night, in the 152, and the 172SP, and had no avionics failures.

Thank you so much for this amazing insight! I will follow your advice in the sim because I keep landing long so the floating tendency seems to be present.

In real life I fly those speeds for a safety margin but I think in the sim, the speeds can be even lower. As I said, In real life I fly at 80 knots (90mph) on final and slow to 70 knots (80 mph over the paint) I would probably try 65 or maybe even 60 knots on short final (above the runway numbers) to get better landings in the sim. You have to be precise with the Mooney approach speeds, it’s no Cessna :grinning:
They float in real life though too for sure.
Also fly it low over the runway and hold it off as long as you can. When the Mooney wants to stop flying it will.

Can somebody tell me what speed on ILS glide slope ? I’m using 100kt… is it good ? THX

I did a 2 hour flight today and the entire flight the auto pilot never once converged on a straight heading. Nav mode zig-zagged all the way to the destination.

Hi…

yeah… the M20R , without any extensions, is not made for Iceing Conditions…
You can read the manual , eg. from manualslib ( Mooney-M20r-Ovation ). Within you can also find what a M20R pilot have to do, if he/she comes into this situation.

WARNING
DO NOT OPERATE IN KNOWN ICING CONDITIONS.
The Model M20R Is NOT APPROVED for flight Into known Icing conditions and operation
In that environment Is prohibited. However, lf:ThOse coodilloi’is.are…lnadvertenlly en~uii•
tared or flight Into heavy snow is unavold.able, the following procedures are rec.ommended
until further Icing conditions can be avoided:…

But yes, I thought also that at least the ā€œWindowā€ can be cleared from icing because the Defroser-Switch is exactly made for this:

…Pull defrost control to decrease air flow to lower cabin area and increase air flow to windshield

This doesnt works in my case and its possible an issue with the plain…

And if you use hdg mode it will bounce

Workaround : Graphics Setting: Set ā€œGeneric models AIā€ and ā€œā€¦ Multiplayerā€ to ON…

I know, but I shouldn’t have to search the forums to find this known issue and workaround. It should be part of the known issues list whenever a patch is installed until it’s fixed.

Edit: I’m sorry, just realized you’re not replying to me. It’s a bit confusing if you’re quoting one post to reply to another. Mea culpa.

Same here, it’s happened to me after the new update.
but i have only HDG bug

if i switch it off, the plane is smooth and fly as expected
and the moment i switch the HDG on, the plane starts to wobble.
Sometimes rapidly, sometimes not so much.

is somebody know something about it more?

In avsim foruns ppl said that carenado already fix it and sended to asobo upload the update in marketplace. Let see if this will happen

Great news, and thanks for the info .

Nice looking forward to it, just love to fly round in my very nice M20R in green with a

I also experience the autopilot hunting issue (I call it ā€œS-Turns across a routeā€), but I don’t know if it’s a plane bug, an underlying FS bug, or actually models real world behavior.

I haven’t had the avionics cutoff issue, knock on wood that I don’t.

But rest assured icing is modeled, and correctly if not aggressively. I experienced clear air icing (at least I think it was clear, it was night) at FL190 not too long ago and almost crashed the plane. Fortunately it remained controllable until I could get lower to above freezing temps. As near as I can tell, the only anti-ice feature on the aircraft is pitot tube heat, and cabin/windscreen heat, though I’m not sure if the latter is modeled correctly. Or the former for that matter, my IAS went way down, but not to zero, so it may have been accurate or a partially frozen pitot tube.

All in all it’s a nice bird that has a few bugs that need to be quashed. I wish you could see passengers inside the cockpit, but I think that’s FS itself, not the plane.

I haven’t experienced any problems with the GPS and approaches, but I subscribe to Navigraph so that may be helping. I wish I could declutter the screen, if it’s an option I haven’t found it, and it’s another thing that might be accurately modeled to reality for all I know. I’ve never used one IRL.

It is NOT worth $30, but I really wanted a piston single with much better performance than the 172S, so I bit the bullet. I think Carenado is going to have to face reality on their pricing when other competitors start coming online with more realistic pricing for this category. I don’t mind paying PMDG prices for a fully functional, accurately modeled 747, but this ain’t that.

It’s a great bird for short to mid-range flights without excessive time watching it fly itself in cruise.

I give it a 7/10, maybe up to an 8 with some bug fixes and updates.

To stop " AP hunting " , when in AP , turn off NAV , then turn it back on . Doing this , a couple of times , sorts it for me . And yes , icing is working . This at 8000 ft .

yeah… I also like an old-style forum format much more … old styles are much more better readable than these here…

icing works… but de-icing of windscreen seems not

It’s not really a de-ice, it directs the hot air to the windscreen according to the manual. I’m unsure how effective it is in real life.
