Carenado Mooney M20R Ovation

No issues here.

Thanks for your comprehensive report! I just update my Mooney an hour ago. My ā€œwing rockingā€ in HDG mode has been fixed. This is now my favorite aircraft!

I have had an interesting bug pop up. After I updated the Mooney I spent a while flying other planes, and when it was time to fly the Mooney to Alexandria, Egypt, It was no longer in my hangar.

Hopefully I can figure this one out, depending on the distance (and therefore speed required) I tend to fly the Cubs, the Mooney and the King Air the most. I really would love the improved model to work for me.

I noticed after the latest game patch that the C182 did seem to oscillate back and forth less than before in NAV mode. However, climbing in FLC mode it bounced up and down like a basketball - something it had never done for me previously. It was almost nauseating to fly because of that.

Has this update to Carenado’s planes fixed that? I love the 182 for longer trips since it’s faster than the 172, but just hated how it handled. Hopefully it has, because I’d like to give that plane more air time.

That is awesome. Thanks.

When I grabbed the update for the Mooney, there was a 2nd update for the C182. AP tracking also seems fixed, plus the fuel selection valve, which had been disabled to fix the cold and dark start issue.

The last weirdness on the C182 seems to the be mixture setting. It feels like actual full rich is below the max on the lever. When I start leaning - there’s an increase in fuel flow, then it starts acting correctly. The Mooney behaves correctly, so I don’t think it’s a HW calibration issue.

Back to the Mooney - speaking of camera, is anyone else slightly bothered by the dip when panning from L to R. Seems like the camera is higher on the wing view and when you pan horizontally the view dips when you get to forward view. Anyone else seeing this? I’d prefer to have direct control of panning the camera without assists.

since the last update 3 new bugs:

  • Engine cannot be switched off after landing. Everything switched off, motor continues to rotate, looks like starter switch is on, but this one can not be turned on or off.

  • Battery and avionic switch clickable only on the ā€œoffā€ side. The ā€œonā€ side isn’t klickable, as well as the right three external lights on the right.

  • gps window with altgr shifted, then it is not possible to operation the aircraft. The gps window must be closed first, then the aircraft can be operated again.

  • When taking off and landing, the aircraft evades unrealistically to the right. keep on the runway with pedals almost impossible. And, it is not the trim, and not the motor. Feels like enormous crosswind.

Hi,
1 ) never had the problem switching off the engine and have done like 20 flights.
2) no problem for me
3) need to test that
4) no problems for me

Never experienced that issues. Maybe a clean install of the Add On can help you.
How are you swicthing off the engine? Killing it with the Mixture?

Yes, I’ve noticed. The propeller just keeps spinning slowly. lol

No problems for me with issues 1,2 and 4

You can do what I did prior to this update, and edit the views by hand.

I’ve definitely done several cold starts, and shutdowns, after the update but I use my Saitek switch panel, rather than clicking on the virtual cockpit switches.

I too have had the erratic runway behaviour on take off roll, and assume this was down to crosswinds. I’ll try with manually configured calm weather, and see if I get the same thing.

Just tried it and I agree with you on the mixture thing. Doesn’t quite feel quite right the way it is. I concur with your take on full rich on the mixture lever.

On the plus side, the weaving in NAV mode is gone, and the non-stop bouncing while climbing on FLC is also gone, although it exhibits a bit of bounce when it gets within 1000 ft of the set altitude. I think the PID numbers still need to be tweaked a bit to smooth that out. But this is acceptable.

On the negative side, I tried to do an IFR flight between a nearby airport and my local airport. When I was assigned my runway to land, I entered that into my FMC using the G1000. That caused an immediate CTD on activation of the approach plan. I tried loading up the same flight again, second time it did exactly the same thing. I don’t recall it ever doing that before. Not sure if it’s a C182 thing, or a MSFS thing. I haven’t flown the C182 in a couple of weeks. However, I know my other planes don’t do this. I fly the C172, DA62 and TBM regularly and do this exact procedure and have never had it CTD as a result.

So I tried a 3rd time, this time entering my approach into my flight plan from the map screen. It caught the RNAV glide slope as it should on approach, but had I followed it down, I would have touched down about 1 mile past the end of the runway in Lake Ontario. Again, this is not behaviour I’ve seen in any other plane. And I’ve done RNAV approaches in the 182 before and never had this issue either.

How is the FPS?

For me the FPS is about the same as the default steam guage Cessna 172. After the Carenado update I have not experienced any deterioration in performance.

Think/hope that Carenado is taking the new sim as an opportunity to improve their reputation in the sim community by adding planes with some depth and be responsive and on top of any bugs that surface. They have a huge catalogue of great looking planes to chose from many with steam gauges that apparently are in demand. Though I would like to see more new planes I would much rather wait untill they are improved and tested.

The download never fully seemed to work. The bar stopped with 5 Mb left, but then The Bell thing at the top of the screen said the download had completed, and it showed as fully installed, but I’m still having the same problems with the Avionics going blank at random times during the flight, even with AI Traffic turned off and all traffic set to generic. Sort of annoying.

I take it back. The AP is fixed. The RNAV issue I had earier is part of the game itself. Just tried with 2 other planes, and they all try to land me about 1 mile past the end of that particular runway. I tried it on other runways and RNAV on the C182T works fine.

oh… v1.1…

but why they are not fixed ā€œtop light switchesā€ , still not visible at night !

today I wil check whether the de-froster now will works to held at least the windshild ice-free.

another issue was also, that sometime if you start the flight from a ā€œmanual starting pointā€ , the airplain roll to left ( need 45% joy to right , on ground I can see wings are not zero’d - one up,one down )
