Carenado Mooney M20R Ovation

… or make sure to communicate the issues when there is still time.

What is not acceptable is sending the customer back and forth between Asobo and the addon developer, but I don’t have the impression this happened in this case. It was just an accident because Asobo had to release some major changes under pressure. And they are fixing it now, internally or together with Carenado, or both.

this makes more sense, but then we have the next year no new content … and I like content like the M20R

This is what I think too. We owners of the first addons are early-adaptors and must accept that some things break. And since the planes are not very complex I am not overly concerned. It can be fixed. But ut will be a whole lot different if planes come out with several man-years worth of programming of their own.

In the future Asobo should also roll out patches as betas first. That way the damage would not be so final and we could still fly the Mooney without half of the switches causing CTD.

yeah, as mentioned before / above…

Only todo for “asobo” is to change her process a bit and inform third party app developers about changes “in time”. At least this content which we buy over the MarketPlace should be compatible. But I assume they bring this on here list

Yes, imagine the unsuspecting buyer purchasing the Mooney today on the marketplace. No one is served well in that situation.

Added a warning in the first post

Carenado Just released a tweet saying;

We have been in contact with Asobo and looks like problems with our aircraft after last update were due to an issue with the simulator. They are working on it and will patch it asap. We will wait until the next update to test our aircraft before working in a new version of them.

Nice, so what to do for the next 2 weeks… Hmmmm… .

If I spent $60 on a video game, and it breaks, I would expect the developer to fix it within 24 hours.

Not sure why anyone should have to wait 2 weeks for a fix to $60 worth of simulator aircraft.

I can still fly the M20R… There are some things which currently not works well, but I flew some hours with the M20R.

It takes weeks for the third party developer updates to their content to be approved and pushed to the Marketplace.

Asobo is updating the sim every two weeks.

So by the time an update to an aircraft gets approved, there may be more changes to the sim that break it again!

This is the consequence of Microsoft deciding to ship MSFS 6 to 9 months before it was done. A bad experience for users and a bad experience for third part developers. Everyone pointing their fingers at each other and no one caring about the customer.

Personally - if I purchased an aircraft from the in sim marketplace I would assume it will work without issue in all future versions of the sim. There is no warning or wording other wise anywhere.

This is why I won’t be buying anything from the Marketplace, or any other paid add-ons for that matter. The sim isn’t done.

You EXPECT 24 hours… Nice. Good luck with that attitude and those expectations. Like I said, the entitlement is through the roof. Fly something else, better yet, step outside, take a look at the sky, at the things and people that surround you. Reconnect. There is a team working on this in the meantime.

When Skyrim was broken day 1, and key bindings couldn’t work, and left-handed players could not play the game, they fixed it in less than 24 hours.

Yeah, and then Skyrim had dragons flying backwards… Literally!

Also, to compare a flight simulator to Skyrim is… special, to say the least. Not even remotely the same scope or complexity. You didn’t have 30 dragons with unique flying characteristics that need to be controlled by players. Come on with this stuff…

Well I was saying they should fix the aircraft within 24 hours, I wasn’t even talking about the simulator itself. A single aircraft is much simpler than Skyrim. But in either case it completely misses the point. It doesn’t matter what is more complex, it only matters what the actual problem is. Fixing key bindings in Skyrim is not a complex task. Fixing crashes when users click on the user interface of an aircraft is also not a very complex task.

Hitting a moving target however is an unrewarding task, and Asobo is creating a moving target for Carenado. Carenado has elected to wait not because the task is technically complex, but because they are afraid of “wasting work” that will need to be fixed again in the next patch. This is not an engineering problem, it is a deliberate management decision at Carenado. It’s as if Carenado has an aversion keeping their products up to date or something.

Dude get over it, it’s not getting fixed this second.

It’s a decision that will prove to be correct if the problems are fixed by Asobo. There is no point to repair something that was working only to change it back again.

I’m not so sure what this says about ongoing sales. People who buy the plane right now on the marketplace have a right for transparency and the description should clearly state that they pre-order a version that it is going to be working again with the promised patch by Asobo, but that right now it will CTD with 1 click on the wrong place.

They’ve released at least two updates for both of their aircraft. What do you say to that?

They need to get the patch fast as f…out so its possible to fly the Mooney, i give them 2 f…days to fix it or i will never ever buy a Carenado airplane again. its been days since the patch and not a f…word from Carenado

Carenado didn’t break it, Asobo did. Your anger is directed at the wrong company.
