CAS J3 Cub

Is there a possibility to switch off the prop reflection? Sometimes it’s nice to have it but sometimes I don’t want it because I really cannot see anything.

I don’t think so.

It’s really bad. If the sun is behind you it can at times be impossible to see anything ahead.

I created two videos showing the behavior Baracus pointed out: (1) In flight:

https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/MCVPi8i3fg0

and (2) after landing:

I do not have the auto trim assist on (see screenshot). This is on Xbox X in MSFS 2020.

@Baracus250 The mystery of the self actuated trim handle is solved. At least for me, it seems that I had activated the auto pilot, which then was adjusting the trim based on my stick movements.

Until I asked on the developer’s Discord channel, I wasn’t aware the AP was available.

Really?! I don’t think I’ve done that - I mean I’ve not accidentally hit the AP Master button by mistake multiple times (I think!).

It seems strange, but I can perfectly recreate the behavior by turning on the auto pilot.

That’s easier to do with an Xbox controller: right bumper + Y goes to a saved view. Y alone turns on the A/P.

However, I think you’re on PC and in MSFS 2024, right? Maybe the cause is different for you.

I have an external AP hardware and use it frequently when flying the J3. Heading hold, VS hold and ALT hold all work nicely. I will try an ILS approach, I think it may work.

It doesn’t work. It locks on a VOR and on an ILS. It engages APR mode and arms GS but it doesn’t follow either.

Anyway, HDG and ALT mode is nice if I want to leave the PC for some time to .. hmmm… pet the cat.

Riiiiiggghhhtttt

Thank you!

I just bought this classic, highly rated add-on on sale in the 2024 Marketplace for about $13 or so. I just couldn’t resist purchasing it at that price. The sale also included the MSFS 2020 version.

It really is the bird that brought GA into the mainstream and will sit prominently in my hangar next to the C172.

So, after more time with her, I imagine that I’ll be visiting this thread more in the future.

You’ve… actually… bought a… payware plane?! Look at my shocked face

:open_mouth:

Enjoy! It’s a great one

It’s one of the best aircraft in the sim, enjoy it!

Thanks. I’ve already accidentally stalled and crashed it once. ‘nuff said …

:joy:

Thank you! I kind of let the many positive reviews coupled with the bargain basement price push me into a realm I normally don’t visit much - payware. But I am excited!

It used to be a really fiddly beast to start before. It needed priming, then it would get over primed. It’s less temperamental now, but no less fun. The float version is definitely worth checking out.

Its an easy one to stall on a take off roll, you need a bit of horizontal speed increase before you start adding a lot of altitude lol. I tend to fly it near my home in Colorado and the sucker does not like our altitude. I laughed my rear off the first time I “landed” a little too hard and the main gear popped off the plane and I went sliding off the side of the runway. The damage model is great on it!

Such a challenge here in Colorado. Ever changing winds from the front range. I like to run her from KFLY to KAEJ, going up the Ute pass corridor but gotta have a majority of the climbing done before so lol

Think I’m taking the J3 out today

I did a similar thing deliberately. I was skimming buildings and hit someone’s roof.
