I did a Skip To Descent in 737, and found myself only 20 ft above destination runway at 120ias.
Its not caped to a 2000 minimum.
I immediately hit the runway and belly slid - only to fail the mission.
most of the time my IAS when skipping is as low as 15IAS up to 150IAS.
this is too low ( on 5 degrees flaps )
We end up falling at -10000fpm while trying to recover and this also ruins our intended TODs.
what we want for the cruise skip is something non-destructive
- Do NOT change the configuration of our planes
In 737 this mean
- Don’t change our flap config
- dont change our Airpseed
- Don’t change our altitude.
The ideal SKIP for anyone would be
- Keep our existing altitude and config and speed
- Provide a skip based on aircraft
classorrole - 737 should be placed 150 miles from dest if cruising above FL300
- C208 should be 40-50 miles from dest if cruising above FL100, etc
