Trying to enter VH-DIK (a real Bell 206 in Australia), and it keeps clearing the tail number field in Aircraft Customization. I tried to type in some other ‘offensive’ words and the tail number was immediately removed. If I put something in like VH-ABC, it works fine.
Is there a filter for tail numbers? Can this filtering option be turned off? I understand that people may put offensive things in this and someone might get offended in multiplayer, but I’m putting in a real world registration for my own use (albeit not on to the exact same aircraft).
Are you sure it’s actually being cleared? A couple of broken updates ago, I noticed my entries are no longer maintained in the aircraft customization fields, but the tail number still shows up on the plane and on the cockpit ID plate.
Well, since nobody else see’s your Tail Number in MSFS MP, it’s only you, or anyone watching a video of your flight that can get offended.
I always assumed the lack of the ability to see other players tail number in MP, was to not show offensive Tail Numbers, but since there is a Profanity Filter in the MSFS client, to stop you entering an inappropriate tail number, that theory seems to not hold water.
Of course, there could also always be a Profanity filter server side, and then there would really be no reason why Players TailNumber could not be sent across MP.
Maybe its just that MSFS is a game and not a Sim, and has to “Play” by game Rules ?
I disagree, it’s not just my sim playing up. I can enter a myriad of other registrations, however after I enter VH-DIK, DIK, VHDIK, or any other profanity, after less than half a second, the registration is cleared. I’ve added a video to the original post.
That’s really odd because, after watching your video, I can say that mine looks the same way, I just eventually quit trying and then noticed the registration I typed was on the plane and in the cockpit even though there is nothing in the field. Same with callsign.
This is a forum that caters to a variety of demographics around the world. We ask that our forum members remember to treat each other with courtesy and respect. Some examples are:
Language or images that could be considered objectionable (If there is doubt, there is no doubt)
Language or images that could be considered to glorify violence, even in a historical context
Attempting to bypass the profanity filter
The title of the topic relates to the issue without having to resort to posting of images or text of what is being censored.
This is because you purchased it on the MS-Store, and some of the .cfg are in an encoded form (.fsarchive) , including the aircraft.cfg file, so you DO NOT have access to that file to edit it.
There is plenty of information on this forum about .fsarchive encoded planes purchasable from the MS-Store, if you want further details.
I see… well it looks like it’s a censoring thing. Looks like the only way to get it working is through the aircraft.cfg that I mentioned above. Hopefully it’s not a livery that comes from the marketplace.
