Cessna 172(G1000) Landing Light Focal Point

I know there are key bindings for moving the landing light. They don’t seem to be applicable to the Cessna 172 (G1000). Landing at night is fine but trying to taxi is extremely difficult. Any ideas?

You should use the Taxi light when moving on the ground not the landing light. The clue to each ones use is in the name.

@Sling380 Well that would have been BRILLIANT idea if I had not tried that already. I’ve even run both the landing and taxi lights and still not sufficient. The problem is they point straight down way too much. I don’t expect them to light up the whole airport. It’s just difficult taxiing around airports that don’t have apron lighting. Other parked GA aircraft can sneak up on you pretty quick too.

Folks - calm down.

@N172SEpilot - have you tried Uwa’s Light Mod? It’s pretty decent. I fly the JT-A mod of the C172 G1000 and his mod is integrated into it. Taxi light is very good, and yeah, you can break protocol and use the Landing light to find your way to the ramp. It works on the darkest of fields and I’ve flown several thousand miles with it. He’s got light mods for most of the unencrypted planes in the package.

Just drop the corresponding folder (follow install instructions) into the Community folder.

I used to use UWA lighting mod, and it does a fine job of increasing loght output to more like real life. I have NO idea why the devs deliver planes with such poor dim lighting in some of the planes. They ovbiously don’t test these things properly at night.

Anyway, for some planes now, TBM930 for a start, the TBM930 Improvement Mod (which is great) will conflict with the UWA mod. But it is easy enough to copy and paste the UWA TBM930 mod differences into the Improvement mod and maintain the benefits of both mods.

It’s only a couple of text lines to copy/replace.

You only mentioned Landing light hence my reply.

@CasualClick Thanks for the suggestion. It works great! I even got the 172 profile working with the Addon Linker.

@SIedDriver As I’m only beginning to move up to the 208, it will be a while before I try and tackle the TBM. I will keep your comment in mind.

@Sling380 I’ve seen too many comments that were less than helpful. Sometimes well meaning comments can be taken the wrong way. My apologies.

Now back to happy night flying, I mean happy taxiing. :grinning:
