Aircraft: Cessna 172 Skyhawk G1000 Issue: Throttle stops responding during flight (randomly, not input related)
I’ve encountered a recurring issue flying the Cessna 172 G1000, both in missions and free flight. After a random amount of time – sometimes right after loading, sometimes mid-flight – the throttle input becomes completely unresponsive.
Symptoms:
Throttle stops working mid-flight or after using ESC → Resume
Neither the Logitech X56 HOTAS, mouse, keyboard, nor autopilot controls have any effect
Visually, the throttle lever may move (especially via mouse), but engine RPM stays idle
Sometimes the rudder and other flight controls also stop responding (especially when the mission just starts)
In the control settings, all inputs are detected normally
Other aircraft (e.g. C152, Skyhawk Classic) work fine under the same conditions
What I tried:
ESC → Resume → No help
Starting new flight → Sometimes works, sometimes not
Reinstalling the G1000 C172 → No effect
Switched to C172 analog version → Works flawlessly
Notes:
Autopilot is not in speed/auto-throttle mode (just ALT and HDG sometimes)
Issue occurs even without autopilot or any mods
May be related to a SimVar lockup or script hang in the G1000 aircraft logic
Conclusion:
This issue seems to be tied to the Cessna 172 G1000 variant only. It is not caused by the input device, autopilot, or user error. A throttle freeze like this ruins entire flights and makes career or mission progress impossible if the G1000 variant is required.

Hi @Racker112 and welcome to the forum !,
Is that issue happens above a specific altitude, are you adjusting as required the mixture lever ?
Does the fuel selector set to both ?, do you have fuel onboard ?
Any specific steps to reproduce ?
Hi @DementedCorn327 and thanks for your quick response.
It’s not a specific altitude and i set the mixture correctly and the engine runs normal. The fuel selector was always set to both and also enough fuel was on board.
All flights have one thing in common (mission and free-flight): the autopilot is in HDG and ALT-holding mode, but not in speed-holding mode ! No Auto-Throttle !
The C172 G1000 is widely used so I guess if there was a bug it would already have been reported but let’s see if other users report the same or have ideas on what else to check.
That aircraft does not have those AP capabilities or what do you mean by that ?
I never looked for auto throttle in the C172 but used it by other planes. I always used HDG and ALT from the AP. So I don’t knew that the C172 Skyhawk AP don’t have this capabilities. Sry. I also reported this Bug directly to the Microsoft Flightsimulator Support. I hoped here for help, it was a chance ! Thanks for your response !
I solved the problem by backing up the configuration files, uninstalling FS 2024, reinstalling it, and copying the configuration files back. All settings, including those for the X56 H.O.T.A.S., are restored. And the throttle issue has not reappeared so far.
I thought was fixed and then the problem appears again ! The real Reason ist from FlyByWire SimBridge !!! I have the A320-251N from FlyByWire and, as recommended, installed SimBridge for it. Then the problem came back, and other aircraft also started having issues. Strangely, it always happened suddenly in the middle of a flight! I uninstalled SimBridge again, and now everything is fine and running without any problems!
