Cessna 172 throttle issue

Hi, folks. Fairly new to MSFS, but loving it. This is actually my first post - up to now I’ve been able to solve issues by just searching. Can’t quite solve this one yet. When I’m in the Cessna 172 my throttle just throttles down on it’s own. Like - I’m on the runway, full throttle, start to move and it just backs off 100% and I go to full idle. Tonight I tried it with 6 or 7 other planes and can’t get it to reproduce that with any of the others. Makes zero sense to me, but I was hoping y’all could help. I’m using a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, and I have nothing else controlling throttle. Really weird. Thanks, in advance.

Hi,have you always faced this problem or just recently ? It could be due to a mod .If you have any in the Community folder you should remove them (paste in a new dedicated folder) and see if it works.

Try reversing your throttle axis.

Thanks for those suggestion. I’ll give both a try and let you know.

Also, check to ensure all your piloting assistance settings are off, in particular takeoff assistance.

Piloting assistance chops the throttle when you try to take off? I guess that makes sense… After all, the safest airplane is the one that never leaves the ground.

The assistance settings can be wonky, they aren’t tried and true at this point yet.

Thanks. I have set AI settings back to default. I removed all mods. And I tried reversing throttle axis. Nothing has worked. I have been able to reproduce the issue with other planes, so it’s not just an issue with the 172. I checked all keyboard and controller bindings to ensure nothing else was conflicting with the throttle. I tried disconnecting my Logitech and using my Xbox controller, and also tried a Saitek. Same issue. Just for the heck of it I made a quick video showing exactly what’s happening. You’ll see full throttle, then - on it’s own - you’ll see it go to idle. After that it immediately goes to idle as soon as I move to full throttle. Sometimes it’s a slower response. I can even take off sometimes - then it goes idle and sad things happen! Maybe I should take MSFS completely back to default settings? Here’s the video for anyone who wants to see, although it sounds like you all have a good idea of what’s happening.

OK, well the assistance default settings may not be the best for this.
That turns all the assists on.
You should change all piloting assistance settings to “off” which will turn the category to “Hard”
You can keep assistance with radio coms on, it has no effect.

Ok - so that seems to have stopped it. Thanks so much. I’ll go through and try these things one at a time to try and figure out the culprit, as I still need some of these features (hopefully less and less as I go along).

Thank you again!
