Cessna 172M/N

Hmmmm. Looks/sounds familiar. Old Sealand machine? Or maybe Montair?

Still is Sealand.

I’d like to know if a real Cessna 172M has the ability to trim the rudder in the cockpit during flight? In MSFS 2024, this can be done by assigning keys . Thanks.

Zeanuck,

Great review! Yes, still a couple quirks but beyond my ability to correct the config file without possibly affecting something else. I did notice one more thing that you did not mention; power on stall will break and only spin to the left, even with strong right rudder (please test and verify).

Also, I had edited Bagolu’s 0.5 release config file and you changed the empty weight value; not sure of the interaction and how this might affect other variables but I added that to my version of the config file and cannot detect any issues. CpMoustache thought that a couple of the variables that I changed would cause too much instability so he is working on a version of my edit as he knows more about config files. Note: while a couple of the values look low in my config file it actually works pretty well.

I agree that what we have now is likely the best C172 flight model available for MSFS at this time but could use some tweaks so as I can’t seem to send an actual config file (only text version) and Zeanuck can access Bagolu’s Discord, I will keep what I have and wait to see what you guys come up with.

One other thing, this is a MSFS 2020 plane and config but my testing and results are running this in MSFS 2024.

Thanks for all of the great work from all of you.

the quick answer is no. However, there have been some mods to some 172s which have a rudder trim added (C-GSKP) as my school is an -P model with a rudder trim.

Oh yes, I do need to give this a try; we’ve done full power stall/spin to right in our 172’s. I will check this out with the other items I need to look at.

Just found out about your planes recently. Nice work! One thing I did notice, the instrument lights don’t work, as least in MSFS 2024. The red dots show up for where the lights should come from, but there is no light cast on the panel.

I had to hunt for this. Use knobs on overhead panel for a nice red glow.
