The Primary Flight Display (PFD) in the default Cessna 208B Grand Caravan EX remains completely black and does not power on, even after correctly following the cold & dark startup procedure, including activating both Master Battery and Avionics Master switches. The issue occurs consistently.
Aircraft Affected:
Cessna 208B Grand Caravan EX (default aircraft)
(Optional): (Please test and confirm if other G1000-equipped aircraft, like the C172 G1000 or Baron G58, are also affected for you and note it here.) Maybe others with the same Garmin Series
Frequency of Issue:
Every time. The PFD does not power on under any circumstances observed in the Caravan 208B.
Steps to Reproduce:
Launch Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Beta 3.
Select the Cessna 208B Grand Caravan EX .
Start a flight from a “Cold & Dark” state at any airport.
In the cockpit, locate and activate the Master Battery switch .
Locate and activate both AVIONICS MASTER 1 and AVIONICS MASTER 2 switches on the overhead panel.
(Note: This has been attempted both by clicking the virtual switches with the mouse and via assigned hardware bindings, with the same result.)
Expected Behavior:
Upon activating the Master Battery and subsequently both Avionics Master switches, the Primary Flight Display (PFD) should power on and display flight and engine instrumentation.
Observed Behavior:
The Primary Flight Display (PFD) remains completely black, showing no signs of power or functionality, even after all relevant electrical switches (Master Battery, Avionics Master 1, Avionics Master 2) are in the ON position. The issue persists regardless of attempting startup from cold & dark or loading directly onto a runway.
Troubleshooting Performed:
Cleared the entire Community Folder to ensure no add-ons are causing conflicts.
Manually clicked the in-cockpit Master Battery and both Avionics Master switches.
Verified keybindings for Master Battery and Avionics Master are correctly assigned and functional (where applicable, for hardware controls).
(Optional, if you tried it): Attempted “Repair” or “Reset” of Microsoft Flight Simulator via Windows Apps settings.
Additional Information:
(If applicable, mention if you use VR, and if the issue occurs both in and out of VR.) It does not matter if in VR or Monitor Mode
(If applicable, mention any specific hardware setups like Honeycomb Alpha/Bravo, Thrustmaster, etc.) Logitech x52 Pro
(Any other observations, e.g., if other systems like MFD or radios also remain unpowered.) The other displays powered easily seen in VR but will show in 2d.
I never heard anything back from the OP after I recommended they take any add-on’s or quit running in programs in the background when in that plane and see if it did anything. Not sure if they found a secondary program they were running in the background or something they bought through the market that’s in the normal content folder that was causing an issue. Does the issue also happen in 2D?
Regards
For Starters there’s no secondary programs being run. I was trying to start up manually. Which somehow started the Engine. I know there is a sequence. But even if I follow checklist it still won’t turn on the left pfd. Yes. This doesn’t load with covers and chocks too even on stable version of flight Simulator I thought maybe the Gsx pro but didn’t have that in community folder during reinstall
I have the exact same problem. A few days ago, everything was working perfectly, and the next day there was no chance of getting the left PFD to run. Unfortunately, the 208B is now completely unusable because of this.

For overscheduled people like me, here is a solution. I had switches for e.g. the avionics on my throttle as physical toggle switches. If I had switched them, then they didn’t do it in-game and I would have discarded the whole thing. It turned out that if I had the physical toggle switches on auus and ingame had the respective switches on on, then these were displayed in-game in the On position, but they blew out. Now that I have deleted all toggle switches from the throttle, everything works again.
I have chocks and covers but the PFD issue occurring, so not sure that was a connected problem and also would be surprised that it is linked to HAGS or just conincidence…?
