Cessna 208B Grand Caravan Left Aileron Stuck

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

The Grand Caravan in Career mode has a default Aileron position issue. This is a fully maintained Grand Caravan with no issues on any parts. When starting a mission, the Left Aileron is down about 15 degrees, not the trip, but the Aileron itself. This isn’t a joystick issue, as the failure is there even when I’m not inside the aircraft, and it only occurs on this plane.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

1. Buy a Grand Caravan in Career mode
2. Fix all “To Maintain items and other items”
3. Attempt a mission
4. Notice the default Aileron position

Show us a picture of the yoke’s position. I see the same (engine running/engine off, before takeoff and after landing). I suspect that is an artwork issue (meaning it’s not inducing any roll to the right or yaw to the left that I can see).

Maybe that’s why there is a problem with the AP, constantly rolling to left and right ?

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
Other users have complained and reported the “Wobble” in the C208 while on auto pilot. The plane isn’t stable with or without AP. YD also has no effect. Flying by hand results in the same behavior that others have reported but it isn’t just an AP problem, though it does accentuate it as the autopilot reacts too slowly to the plane

2.any varying winds (any direction, any speed above 2-3 KT)
3.try and hold a straight line. (don’t try this in VR unless you enjoy motion sickness)

left aileron seems to be uneven with the rest of the wing. is this intended?

it’s not from me turning or my peripheral making any inputs. this happens upon simply loading into cold and dark c208 on the ground.

The 20204 Asobo C208 Caravan left aileron is unevenly deflected to the right aileron. which would explain the constant roll to the right and instability in autopilot.

Honeycomb yoke for primary control surface but i tried with it plugged in and unplugged to rule out drift. doesnt matter where i load in, doesnt matter about the wind or turbulence or the trim tab on the aileron. its the entire aileron that is not even with the right side.

208 Aileron still uneven after months. Seems like pure laziness not to fix this. Airplane still wobbles when applying brakes properly upon touchdown. Airplane rolls to the right in straight and level flight. Ive tried this with peripherals on and off, to make sure i wasnt acccidently inputing anything. doesnt matter if you load in hot or cold and dark, on the ramp or on the runway. Left aileron is still uneven. disappointing.

Has anyone checked to see if this is just an animation issue? You would need to compare some simvars, one for the actual aileron input, and another of the aileron’s animation position.

I’ve never actually looked for those before, and might have a peek around tonight.

I’ve had a look at the following simvars, converted from Radians to Degrees:

I think that’s close enough to zero to be negligible. But you can see a clear difference comparing left, and right.

If I adjust aileron input to make the left aileron aligned with the rest of the wing, now the right wing is off.

It looks to me like this is purely cosmetic, and just an animation issue, if the data is anything to go by.

Looking at it a little closer it looks like aileron trim is also off.

If I adjust aileron trim so that the left trim tab is level now the right is off.

I’m not sure how to present the aileron animation data. I can do it for switches inside the cockpit in the “Behaviors” window, but I’m not sure about external elements.

Apart from the aileron fix it looks like the wobbling has gone and the speed has increased.
All in all a most needed upgrade, now I can fly with a pefectly designed plane!
