I’ve a small issue , and Im not sure if its pilot error , or a bit of a bug with the CJ4.
I’m flying in an an ILS approach, and using APPR to pickup LOC and GS.
Its all good, picks it up nicely.
but Im finding that (sometimes) if the approach is slightly left of right, the AP will try to get on to heading (good!) but will bank too steeply, and so overshoot, then turn the opposite way (again too
much) and again overshoot - rinse and repeat.
I’m far enough out that the AP does not need to do such dramatic maneuvers, it could just set a small bank angle to align. so I end up putting into HDG mode (or turning off AP) and do this myself - then re-enabling APPR once dead on course.
is this an known issue?
and is there a way I can try to avoid this, set it up for success?
Im assuming my best way to handle for now, is to just not enable APPR until Im fully aligned, and just use it to (hopefully do the GS and handle wind correction)
.. perhaps this is my mistake/pilot error, asking the AP/APPR to do ‘too much’, too soon?!
