Description of the issue:
Happens every time.
Moved to User Support Hub since this is not a bug but the correct logic “by design”. Once you have started a freeflight, the only controls you can change is for the aircraft loaded for that free flight. Once you leave free flight and go back to the menu, accessing the control menu allows you to change the controls for whatever aircraft you want.
Unfortunately, I must misunderstand as that doesn’t make any logical sense, and is totally unintuitive (especially as there is no manual).
Hello
For me, the button is greyed while in Flight. It makes sense to me that I can’t change controls for an aircraft other than the one I am currently flying one airplane.
This button exists, and remains during free flight because, in computer “user experience” (UX/UI), we want stable things. i.e. we don’t want this window to change too much because of the context. Greyed out buttons is always, always, better than “the same interface with little changes, and you know have to remember when which buttons is present, or not”. Here, we got the same interface, whenever you launch it; but depending on what you’re currently doing, all options may not be available.
Here, when the context applies (free flight), the button is greyed out, but when you go to the settings from the main menu, then it’s not greyed (and even have the keyboard shortcut displays). It’s still a button, hence the “highlight” when you hover it. It’s to let people know “this is a button”. The greyed-out part tells people “it’s not usable at the moment”.
It’s totally normal that this button doesn’t just disappear (we really hate when things are present only in certain contexts).
For the (3) : yes, it is just a button that let’s you configure controls for a specific control. It’s not a button to “change the aircraft you’re flying in your freeflight”. Why would such a button be hidden so far in the menu, if it existed ?
I do agree that the button could be a bit more greyed out, though.
