ChasePlane for MSFS... It's happening! [by Parallel 42]

Don’t forget the basic aim of the Beta is to test the sim only …
I seem to recall in the early days they asked you to not use any 3rd party assets during Beta tests!
…Personally, I never use the Betas …I just stick with the released version.
Remember Beta testers are exactly that …test and report…

This is not correct. Some of Asobo’s latest statements clearly state they want the BETAs tested with addons so everyone gains an understanding of what works and what does not. Also, gives developers visibility so adjustments can be made in advance / in time for release.

I did say in the early days…
If people want to use 3rd party addons thats fine …but just report it back when it doesnt work and wait.
I personally think (just my opinion!) that a lot (I wont say most…) of people sign up to Beta programs to get early access to features rather than to test and report.
…Again…just my opinion …and like fingerprints, we all have them and they are differant!

The product page and product interface have a clear “EXPERIMENTAL” tag. This means that things might break along the way. Sim betas are part of this. That being said, while the product is in this “Experimental” phase, we are making efforts to bring timely updates to work with sim betas.

At this point, we are approaching the “Stable” phase of this product so we will move back to a traditional “Official” and “Experimental” set of branches for you to choose from. “Experimental” will remain the branch where support for sim betas can be expected.

This version is now available in your accounts:

2026.28.3.14

  • Added support for MSFS 2024 Sim Update 6 Beta 1.8.x.x
  • ChasePlane Manager keeps ChasePlane up to date automatically, so you can stay on the latest version without managing updates yourself.

Installed and working. Thanks for the quick fix didn’t expect it so soon. Good job.

Very much appreciate both the communication and the approach. Thanks.

Well done guys ! Thank you for bringing the update so quickly !

I may have been at fault in breaking ChasePlane in the 5.1 release since I am using a program which kills my yoke, throttles and rudder pedals when I play another game that freaks out when they are attached. Now ChasePlane gives me errors on loading in both production and beta (experimental version) and can’t use my controls on my yoke, etc for panning. I have done a few uninstalls and reinstalls using the included installer. Is anyone familiar with removing ChasePlane completely before reinstalling?

Go to your community folder, find the Chaseplane folder then click the exe to open the manager and click uninstall. Then reinstall it.

After the update, my tca mini stick lost its mapping to camera panning. Now its dead. I have no idea how to get it back. Watched lots of videos to no avail.

Just a small warning - when I updated to the new version in the live sim (not the SU6 beta), ChasePlane stopped working. It would freeze on an intermediate camera view and be unusuable. I had to join the beta to get it working again. So i’d hold off on updating if you’re not in the beta…

Having said that, I’ve had no issues with the beta and have actually seen a stability improvement at high memory loads.

I installed the latest version of Chase Plane (2026.28.3.20) on the public SU5.1 version, and CP works perfectly.

Chase Plane is working well in SU6 now, also in VR. However, there is something about cinematics mode where I think MSFS and the Fenix aircraft get overloaded and there’s an intermittent glitch and you will lose autopilot. In the past I’d sometimes lose radio frequency in BATC as well. It only seems to happen with cinematics mode on while in VR and I’d bet it would be very hard to trace that down and replicate it. Simvar overload perhaps?

Drone View - Track Aircraft Option: I find if I try to enable the Track Aircraft option in the Drone section it does not save it. It is only active when the GUI is open and you are selecting the option. If I close the UI and reopen to check, the track option is inactive. I have looked around the web and don’t see anything related to this setting. ?? Am I missing something?

Does anyone know if there’s a way to use Chaseplane for Cockpit/Interior views but the default sim camera system for Drone Camera?

AFAIK that’s not possible.

To be fair, the ChasePlane drone camera is actually the sim Showcase camera (which is what is used for the sim’s drone views), as are all of the ChasePlane exterior and world cameras. The sim fundamentally only has the 3 cameras (cockpit, exterior and showcase); ChasePlane layers on top of those and controls them in various ways to do things like flyby and cinematics, and then provides its own key and control mappings for that.

What specifically are you wanting to do, @SN0WY33, that you can’t do with Chaseplane’s drone camera view? It may still be possible.

This is the part that would make me cautious about using any camera tool too deeply during a serious flight. For normal cockpit work I use Tobii, so once the view is set up I mostly want the sim to leave the cockpit camera alone.

For me ChasePlane would be more interesting for screenshots, fly-bys and external views than for anything active during an IFR flight, at least until the SU6/cinematics issues settle down. If a camera mode can accidentally affect autopilot or radios in something like the Fenix, that would ruin the flight pretty quickly.

I’ve been using ChasePlane for a long time, and I also bought Nusantara Cinema early on. In my opinion, it’s not a replacement for ChasePlane but a complementary tool.

ChasePlane remains an excellent all-around camera manager, while Nusantara brings a much more modern and flexible approach to automated cinematic sequences. That’s really where it stands out.

I genuinely hope the Parallel 42 team takes inspiration from some of Nusantara’s ideas, because they could significantly improve ChasePlane’s cinematic mode. I actually pointed the developers towards Nusantara some time ago, but unfortunately I never received any feedback.

For anyone interested, here’s a recent video showing what Nusantara Cinema can do:

I have been using ChasePlane for my “serious flights” since release, and yes, it works fine with TrackIR or OpenTrack head tracking. ChasePlane allows me an essentially infinite number of custom views, both internally and externally - for most planes I have a default captain’s view, then custom closeups to the instruments, FMC (if any), radio stack, EFB (if any), lower and upper overheads, etc. In my case, I bind them all to my keyboard numpad and they’re just one button tap away. External showcase cameras like Cinematic mode or Flyby are set to other single-key commands. My external Drone camera equivalent is bound to the same thing FS2024 uses by default so my muscle memory stays the same. I also have a dozen custom external views like engine, landing gear, flaps, etc. all set to easy key combos (Right Shift + NUM PAD numbers) for quick screenshots.

If anything, after using CP for a few days and understanding how it works, any flight without it feels un-serious. Of all the things MS/Asobo should have implemented into FS2024 (like they did with FCR), ChasePlane should have been top of the list.
