ChasePlane for MSFS... It's happening! [by Parallel 42]

Hi, I’m using ChasePlane with FS2020 and it is possible to controll the camera views with the Elgato Stream Deck. You can assign a key stroke to a certain view and then map the same key on the Stream Deck via the hotkey function.

It’s finally released. Bought it, installed it and… Wow!!! It’s superb…

Do you need to buy for than 1 license to use it on 2 different PC’s for MS20?

1 license per username (Xbox account)

I instantly bought this, when it got released for all and I absolutely love it!

Does anyone know if/how it is possible to change the mouse wheel zoom function? I’d like to have to press a button when scrolling, so it won’t accidentally zoom when turning dials and knobs

That’s not in yet but will be coming in an update

Can anyone please comment on how useable it is in VR given there can be no control panels/ windows visible when outside the aircraft?

We have some limitations with VR when using ChasePlane at the moment, here is what they are.

ChasePlane works in VR with the following limitations:

  1. The depth perception of the mouse cursor can be off (on the right eye) while in the cockpit if the view is moved from the default pilot position. We are currently working to resolve this issue.

  2. The mouse cannot be used to pan/tilt the camera. Control assignments must be used to perform those. We will keep researching how we can make this work.

  3. The Smart View will not work in VR. We are working to resolve this issue.

  4. In MSFS 2020, panels cannot be displayed while in external or world view. This is true without ChasePlane as well and cannot be mitigated.

Apart from Bijan’s ‘Seasons’ add-on, ChasePlane is undoubtedly the best add-on I’ve spent money on for MSFS 2020. Install it, and it works. And, by golly, it’s beautiful.

To be clear, I’m not a pilot, and I’m not interested in piloting, but I love flying virtual planes in MSFS—sightseeing, like a true tourist. Thankfully, in 2020, we have A.I. Pilot, which has always been a boon. Add ChasePlane to the mix, and suddenly it all makes perfect sense.

My tips: Remove all 2020 UI and turn off in-game sound. Fire up Spotify and tune into your favourites as ChasePlane entertains you with a cinematic show. You can change cameras (‘internal’, ‘external’ and ‘cinematic’) at will via the ChasePlane menu (which discreetly hides itself when not in use). That menu, btw, is endlessly customisable. Seriously, one could spend a great deal of time custom-mapping various controllers.

It is possible to have an A.I. Pilot and ChasePlane fly the entire mission ‘hands-free’ by specifying exact parking spots for departure and arrival. I just did this with a Neo, right across India. Mission completed—‘hands-free’.

ChasePlane should have been in MSFS 2020 (and 2024!) right from the start. Shooting in-flight video takes it to another level - content creators will love it!. Highly recommended. 9/10.

I totally agree.

Any news on ETA for FS24 ?

There’s still no update on Discord or the roadmap from Parallel 42 regarding the release of ChasePlane for MSFS 2024. I’m remaining cautious at this point, especially after realising that SimFX will never be compatible with MSFS 2024.

It would be great if they manage to bring ChasePlane to the new sim, but honestly, I’m not very optimistic anymore. The situation definitely puts their slogan “Buy with confidence” into a new perspective, this is my own opionion and pure speculation.

Hope I am wrong

That would be utterly disappointing.

Dont worry. They managed to make something possible that even Asobo could not achieve.
So just be patient, it will come in time
Parallel 42 just isnt the kind of kind of company who promises mountains but doesnt deliver.

I just wanted to bump the ChasePlane 2024 topic, as the desire in getting it, is still there…

Looking forward to get a great camera system for a mainly great sim….

So please //42 dont leave us alone with MSFS 2024!

Well, they managed to bring this superb camera utility to MSFS 2020 so i have no doubt the 2024 version will be just as good. Imo, P42 just wants to be sure it’s tested properly before releasing it

ChasePlane for MSFS 2024 is in active development.

Excuse the delays but it has to work perfectly before we even consider putting it into your hands. Perfection takes time and, in this case, small details can take weeks to get right.

Looking forward to it! Will it be possible to swap over configs from 2020 to 2024?

Yes, your data will move over

Any idea on timeline? It’s the best addon for msfs in my opinion.
