I am so ■■■■■■ off. Yet another weekend, just fired up MS2020 and getting the endless checking for updates screen. They never fix it! Why does this keep happening? Are they so incompetent that they cannot institute a permanent fix? Asobo/MS are becoming the absolute worst game developers ever. So again, off to do something else. Such a joke of a franchise this has become.
Same issue here. Very annoying.
Same in California this morning.
Since FS2024 was released I have this problem with FS2020 as well. I read on some forum that you (during startup of FS2020, disconnect internet during the splashscreen showing the copyright info), and that should fix it. Nor sure if it works or if you need to to this every time. I guess you need to start internet again, but yeah…maybe connect after you clicked someting (dont remember really, sorry).
Don’t worry, they “know” about it. May not care based on all the Shannahans lately but hey, they know.
Got me thinking, wonder if they are going to show their face at the flight sim expo this year. There might be a few unhappy folks there lol.
Sure they know about the problems,
you would know when you read the attached text
below the logo of this side. Just above the thread title.
Same here (MS2020, PC, MS Store)
Never had this issue before. Yes, it has been slow sometimes, but not totally stuck like now.

Hello all! We are aware about issues when trying to launch MSFS 2020 where’s it’s stuck on “checking for updates”. Moderators have escalated this to MS/Asobo to look into (as well as some issues with launching MSFS 2024). Please note that it is a weekend and this may take a bit for them.
This is a joke. This has happened on MULTIPLE weekends in the past few months. By now they should have found a solution, not asking us to wait because it’s (yet another) weekend.
Also this outage has been going on at least 3.5 to 4 hours now, possibly longer, so when was it escalated? Do these MS/Asobo guys even have monitoring in place to get alerted before hundreds of messages by frustrated customers pour in?
And now the relevant major thread has been switched to slow mode? Best to close it entirely so that no more frustrated messaged will be added there and the problem will be hidden under the carpet.
Until next weekend.
The thread was set in Slow Mode because certain users were disrupting the rest of the conversation with non-compliant posts. Expressions of Customer Sentiment are welcomed and supported, but in accordance with Code of Conduct. This is the only time we’ll say anything about it publicly. If you have further concerns about it, please Direct Message @moderators and Staff will respond.
