"Checking for uptades" taking a VERY LONG time

Hi

I tried to play the sim today (I played yesterday for hours and was just fine) and noticed that the “checking for updates” screen was stuck for a very long time (almost 10 minutes). Then it went to the loading screen and I also waited for another ten more minutes before I could play!

Has anyone experienced this today? Seems like a connection/server problem, I didn´t change any settings or hardware since yesterday!

I have had the same issue and it turned out to be the modem which was replaced. The modem was handing out ipv6 address but not ipv4 addresses.

Thanks! Is there a way to know if my modem is working correctly?

Look at the properties of your network settings for the ipc4 and ipv6 IP’s addresses.
Also run a speed check program (app) to see if you are getting throughput to your computer.

Or windows is updating all WinApp in a qeue, and that stops MSFS exe in its tracks, you see that in Task Manager.

Happens to me too, stalls before update screen. So, I should wait for 10min. I have logged more hours starting MSFS than flying🙁

It has been about 10 min and the start up is stuck. There is message that pops up but it is gone before I can read it. I think I saw the words SYNC…I did notice that my c drive is a little full. This 3rd reinstall I put MSFS in my D drive, but that wouldnt make a difference right? The pretty music is playing in the background…it is just stuck!

Check your C drive. If it is full, that could be why MSFS start up is stalling. I looked ,
There is only 7.45mb left. I need an external hard with to run both MSFS and FSX.
Then I can be flying again!

Well, MSFS will not load on external hard drive.
