ISSUE DESCRIPTION
On the world map, both in career mode and in free flight, circular holes can be seen in the “white” areas during winter.
This bug is specific to FS2024 and different from those related to snow cover and previously reported here: Snow Coverage still not right
FREQUENCY OF ISSUE
Always.
REPRODUCTION STEPS
-
Make sure the current season is winter in the Northern Hemisphere, and that the weather is set to “live”.
-
Just look at the regions of Canada, or Siberia on the map.
There is circular areas not covered by “white”:
Important notes
It’s noticeable that these zones have the same surface area (150 km radius) as the discoveries made in career mode.
So, they also appear to be centered around an airport (or a weather station) and has a radius of influence of 150 km.
Investigations
Although several holes exist, one is particularly noteworthy and could help in understanding this bug. In Canada, there is one centered on Ennadai. Here, there is no longer an airport, but an operational weather station still remains.
In FS2024, no airport is coded at this location, but it appears that weather data is still being retrieved. May be this cause a conflict and ignoring the weather data.
The weather datas for this station are public and can be viewed here.
Temperature: -29.2°C
