Citation X Wx radar function inop

CCX MSFS2020. I’m able to select Wx radar and activate it on the MFD, but no apparent changes to the MFD Screen. The Gain control, next to the Radar mode selection rotary switch, is marked ‘PULL VAR’ but seems to be inop.

Has this function actually been modeled?

There isn’t any change to the MFD other than it showing weather as green on the lower left corner of the MFD. If there’s no weather to show it won’t show anything

wx has not been modelled and FlightFx hasn’t indicated they will.

I just noticed this was for 2020, I really should pay better attention to the tags.

in 2024, turning the weather on will indicate something, not sure how accurate it is but it does show red areas I assume are precip

Yes it is, WX needs to be on with switch on center console and then selected on one or both MFD’s a different button neat the MFD.

Moved to User Support Hub that is more appropriate for community support.

Agreed. I’ve found and activated the switches and buttons, but no MFD indications. That’s why I posted, to see if anyone has ever seen precip radar returns. I’m on MS2020 and wondering if that’s an issue. Just above in the previous replies, WC96387 posted a pic of active radar returns but I think he may be in MS2024. His aircraft is on the 28R runway, prepped for takeoff. I mentioned that the radar amplifier Gain control is inop in MS2020, not sure about 2024.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Thanks! Are you in 2024? I use 2020 (I have 2024, just never use it). If so, is your gain adjustable?

I may have to fire up 2024 and try it there as an experiment…LOL!

Before I do that, I’ll try to find a runway that’s experiencing rain at ground level and see if that makes a difference. Naturally, there’s rain everywhere but when you want it. Flew out of Jakarta this morning where it’s usually violent thunderstorms, but no joy :frowning:

Yes I’m only flying in 2024. I’ve never adjusted anything for the radar. Just turned it on and left it alone

Thanks, Chris! Looks like 2024 is gonna get fired up. good to know that none of the other controls were involved.

Well. I don’t know what I did, but my current flight from rainy Minneapolis to Denver finally showed radar returns on both pilot and F.O. MFDs. Picked up returns at about 6000 feet and they persisted through an active storm system until I left the system (and seemed to show the same activity I saw in Navigraph Charts!). The sweep is 120 degrees total, about 10 seconds for a right to left and back to right cycle. Apparently no horizontal sweep is involved, but I flew from 6000 to 33000 in 2000 foot steps and never lost the returns. YAY! Probably the last time I’ll ever be concerned about it…LOL! Thanks for all the help!

Arggg…Coplot lied to me.

So the WX doesn’t work properly for FlightFX citation X? You could press the buttons for the radar settings and turn on the MFD WX, but it seems that when you are on the ground it works, and when you are up in the air, it shows nothing and you could clearly see thick clouds are everywhere. I am on MSFS 2020. Even some of the default plane had it modeled correctly, having to paid for something that is really basic and important for IFR just doesn’t make sense! I am not going to purchase any more planes from flightfx, no matterwhat many others seems to think that this plane is great. Having said that maybe it is like that for all the other paid planes!

Just because there are clouds doesn’t mean precipitation will return on the weather radar.

No, thick clouds.

It is very strange. When I am up in the air, the radar show nothing. When I am actually on the ground. All of a certain. Red patches comes up on the MFD?!

No to mention that WX off mean on and WX on means off. It just “what the hell”, I paid money for this?

Are you on 2020?

Ah, nope. I just saw that. Sorry.
