As a GA/VFR pilot in MSFS 2024, I really enjoy exploring new regions (like the Rocky Mountains in Colorado or Ukrainian Carpathians), but one major frustration is the lack of basic information on the World Map and in-flight VFR Map. Currently, there are almost no city names, country names, country/state borders, or detailed airspace info (like Center/ARTCC frequencies) visible by default. Labels only appear when you zoom in very close on the World Map, and even then, many places (especially outside the US) remain unlabeled. This makes orientation hard, especially in unfamiliar areas you fly over beautiful mountains and rivers but have no idea what they are called or which country/state you’re in.
Existing options like “Show Nameplates” or “City Markers” in Assistance User Experience help a bit in-flight (showing some labels under the aircraft), but they don’t add anything to the planning World Map or make the VFR Map more useful for real VFR-style navigation.
What I’m suggesting:
Add toggle options in the Map / Assistance settings (or as layers in World Map / VFR Map):
Show City & Town Labels (more comprehensive than current sparse ones)
Show Country Names & Borders (optional layer, perhaps with a note about political sensitivities - make it toggleable)
Show State/Province Borders (especially useful in large countries like USA, Canada)
Enhanced Airspace Details: Display airspace classes (A/B/C/D/E/G), restricted areas, and clickable/hover frequencies for ARTCC/Center, Approach, Tower, etc. (similar to real sectional charts or Navigraph integration)
This would make the in-game maps much more useful for:
New players exploring the world without external tools
VFR/GA/Career Mode pilots who want realistic navigation
Avoiding confusion in complex airspace
