City Update 3: Texas Feedback

the trailer kinda makes me miss Texas hill country, although beyond austin and san antonio some of the choices seem to be puzzling locations to focus on.

not complaining, but im genuinely curious what were the discussions that led to each of the city choices they made

Hello @TJTurner,

There appears to be an issue with your sim’s configurations. Please confirm your online data and graphics settings are set up correctly.

Dallas does not have photogrammetry, but it does look significantly better than the screenshot you posted here. I captured the below images just now, showing the autogen scenery for Dallas’s central business district and a hand-crafted POI for the American Airlines Center.

Thanks,
MSFS Team

Take off from Dallas Airport. The whole area around there looks terrible.
Photogrammetry is on and an restarted.
Rolling Cache is reset
I restarted the whole sim, and there is no change.

As a Texan I am very happy to see this! <3

Cedar Park isn’t even a city. It’s a suburb of Austin that’s about 10 minutes from me. They’re joking with this one.

I live in a suburb of Fort Worth yet it’s still called a city.

San Antonio photogrammetry looks really good, Austin’s is very limited in its geographic extent, but still every bit counts!

Cedar Park is a suburb of Austin no? Where I live is a suburb of Fort Worth and has roughly half the population of Cedar Park. Where I live it literally says “City of…” on the welcome signs.

What happened to the Boeing 307?

I live in Round Rock. Yes, by definition, it’s a city. It’s also about the size of a tiny corner of a ‘real’ city. These are towns at best if you ask me.

In the UK, generally only places that have a cathedral or university are known as cities, everything else towns

City status in the UK can be associated with having a cathedral or a university, a particular form of local government, or having a large population.

Although any of these might be used to justify the popular use of the term ‘city’, in formal terms UK city status is granted by the monarch, on the advice of ministers.

anybody having terrible lag ?
deleted it in no time!

The USA is a LOT more vague with its rules. “City” typically meaning, “Bigger than the towns around it.”

Not real big on cathedrals here.

Universities aren’t a qualifier either, with many places with universities known as, “College towns.”

Have a look at the area around Highway 101 / Airport Freeway, it looks really bad. Yep, online data etc. are all ok. Just a bit to the south it looks ok.

San Antonio sub suburb…

The DFW area has some great mods on flightsim.to. I use those to clean that area up. My DFW area looks significantly better than Austin does. Sad, but true. How DFW wasn’t a PG area from release is beyond me. It’s the fourth largest city in the US.

The hand crafted airport looks ok, I know it’s always been there. But the surrounding area with in a 12 mile radius looks horrible. The business district 12 miles out looks better. I think SeedyL3205 must off just spawned into mid air over that area.

Check out the latest DFW stuff on the site. The same developer ‘fixed’ many more cities. His stuff is great.

I believe you. There’s some great stuff there. But not everyone has access to flightsim.to

My bad. I assumed you were on PC.
