I think I have asked many times for a city update for southern Italian cities, a city update in Italy is needed, southern Italy has breathtaking places, sea and mountains. Living in Calabria I am in love with this fantastic city with many fantastic points of interest and I think that even though a good job was done with the world update it was not fully exploited to represent these fabulous cities. Here are some images for you.
This is Mount Etna in Sicily, a still active volcano and the highest active volcano in the Eurasian plate. On June 21, 2013, the UNESCO Committee session listed Mount Etna as a World Heritage Site. With what fs2024 has to offer when it comes to the high resolution this in the sim would be great
Here are more photos…
Also near the city of Reggio Calabria is the airport, a small airport that has been built since 1939. It faces the sea offering a spectacular view of Mount Etna for landings and takeoffs, it is also surrounded by very high mountains that make landings even more spectacular and difficult, on msfs2020 there is also a landing challenge at this airport.
The airport has hosted planes such as the 757, the historic md80 and other small planes, lately ryanair has opened a hub offering vast destinations
Plus in Reggio Calabria very often operate Canadair cl-415 it would be interesting to have some missions in this places since very often they are affected by fires. It would be great to take off from this small airport, refuel your plane over the strait between Messina and Reggio Calabria, and put out a fire. These are just some ideas I’m throwing out hahaha then it’s up to you to decide.
In short, I think it’s really worth it, and I hope I’ve convinced you to take a look at southern Italy. Thanks to the Microsoft Flight simulator team.
