So i am trying to enter a plan in the CJ4 FMS.
KHYX BERYS Q438 RAAKK Q436 REXXY DNY VALRE5 KHPN.
when i enter BERYS in the flight plan page for a direct to that’s fine.
go to page 2 to enter the airway Q438 on the left, that’s fine.
When i go to enter the exit point RAAKK from Q438 to Q436 entry i get Invalid Airway Exit.
This is a route that SimBrief gave me.
Can you provide a screenshot of your FMS when trying to enter the airway? Just helps to see exactly what was entered.
Edit: do you have a Navigraph subscription and are you using the latest AIRAC, or is your SimBrief using an older AIRAC version?
Here is a Picture.
1 is the beginning page. 2. pos int page. 3. i set dep, and arr airport KHYX to KHPN dir to BERYS to enter Q438 4. Leaving Q438 at RAAKK for Q436. 5 when push the button by the red arrow it gives invalid airway exit. I added a picture of the chart.
So i hopped into the Longitude that has the garmin 3000 in it. and punched in the route. It sees Q438 and Q436 but neither of them has RAAKK as a exit or entry point.
Your navdata seems to be out of date. It works fine for me in the CJ4 and I am using the latest AIRAC cycle from Navigraph.
Do you have a navigraph subscription? If so, did you make sure to keep the AIRAC up to date? If you do not use Navigraph then it seems like the sim’s navdata is missing this information.
Q348:
RAAKK populated as exit:
That does not make sence.
First of all im not buying Navigraph for updates, I paid $120 dollars for the Sim, best i can expect is Nav data to last more than a week after purchase.
Second in the Longitude it showed me the different entry and exit points for both Q436 and Q438, neithier of the points showed up as options but the rest are there.
Thirdly by going on a different route based off of present Skyvector maps and FltPlan Go maps, route entry and exit worked.
So my final conclusion is that there is something wrong in the FMS, or the game that im missing.
So there will be a couple issues.
First the game has not updated to cycle 2310 yet - you can see in your first screenshot that the nav database expired last week. A future game update will update the AIRAC cycle the game uses by default to 2310.
Secondly, SimBrief without a Navigraph subscription will use an AIRAC cycle from at least a couple years ago if not more. It will not be up to date. This means SimBrief will be prone to giving you routes that will not be up to date with the database version the game is using. Even if the game’s database was up to date, SimBrief will not be.
Edit: just to be clear you don’t need Navigraph to have the game use the latest AIRAC cycle, there might just be a delay getting the latest version in the game. It will be required however in order to get the latest information in SimBrief. So without a subscription you will likely get outdated routes from SimBrief. Most of the time it will be fine but not always.
Putting all that together… this issue you’re facing is likely a combination of SimBrief using route data from years ago, as well as the game not being on 2310 yet. It’s really hard to say for sure why the default database doesn’t have that exit point. It’s possible it wasn’t valid in 2309 and is in 2310 (which is why it worked for me). Edit 2: or this really could be an issue with some of the aircraft in the base sim not properly referencing the nav database.
Im using updated charts to get the fixes. I used simbrief for a version of the route and crossed refed with present charts, and tried with a fail.
Just tried entering this route in SimBrief with airac 2002 and it was valid back then, so it doesn’t seem to be a navdata issue.
