Hey guys, hopefully a quick and painless question here. Been flying the 172 & Bonanza the over the last year, have flown pretty much every instrument approach available and feel like I’ve become quite adept with the in-game G1000. Moved on to the CJ4, and the tutorials available for the FMS have been great and not too huge of an adjustment.
However, I don’t know what I’m missing, I can’t call up the Nav2 CDI on the PFD. I go to TUN and input my Nav1 and Nav2 frequencies, and then use the NAV (up/down arrow) button above the PFD to swap the CDI. For instance, had the ILS tuned to Nav1 and VOR to Nav2. Hitting the NAV (up/down arrow) changes the CDI from FMS1 to Nav1, but hitting it again returns me to FMS1 instead of continuing on to Nav2.
Can anyone shed some light on what I’m doing wrong here? Thank you!
Going from memory, there is a setting in the PFD menu that lets you choose which nav source or bearing indicator is displayed. I think you can select the second NAV source there and it will show on the PFD. I can’t recall if you are able to have both NAV radios on at the same time or not, but you should be able to tell once you pull up the PFD menu.
On your PFD along the left side you will see a box labeled “Preset”, by default it is set to VOR 1 I think. Above the PFD on the Display Control Panel there are 3 knobs. The center one labeled “Menu Adv” and “Data”. Turn the smaller inner knob (Data) to change your Nav preset.
Also if you have your approach loaded into the MFC the CJ4 will auto tune to your needed ILS freq at the appropriate time. I’ve never had to manually input my ILS freq’s in this plane.
have a read through this will clear up just about everything for you i think
