Morning all. So I’m just wondering whether this known issue is related to the avionics screens going blank on flights of 1-2 hours on the Xbox, which bizarrely isn’t listed as a known issue, by the way, or if it’s something different? Cheers;
'Downloading ~25 GB of content and entering a flight durations of 2+ hours may cause a crash or service disconnection issue
- Workaround:
- On Xbox: press the Xbox (jewel) button on the console face once, which places the console into connected standby mode. Then, press it again to wake it back up.’
I believe I read elsewhere in the forums that an aircraft battery can be drained if the starter has been left on ‘start’ and the avionics subsequently go off. The fix or work-around being to ensure the starter is disengaged after starting the aircraft.
I cannot understand why there would be any connection between downloading content and a crash during flight?
I will take a bit of stab in the dark though: is it potentially because you have been on a long flight perhaps on autopilot but have not interacted with the controls/console… therefore the Xbox is trying to enter into a power saving mode causing the sim to quit/crash?
Yes I read that about the battery issue. It’s not that, as the checklists are followed, and the panel lighting, dome lighting etc still works, bizzarely. It’s just the displays themselves that go blank. So it’s definitely a bug.
That’s probably a good take on the downloading issue. I’m similarly stumped as to how it can cause a crash, though. Haha.
I am not saying it is not a bug as such just that it could be feasible- I did have this happen to me but to be honest it did not overly concern me at the time - I think I was flying one of the two jets. It’s also possible a checklist is incorrect or even on certain aircraft it’s another switch or as you say simply a bug with certain aircraft. Thinking about it, it might have been the A320.
It’s very prevalent. I’ve had it happen to me on three different glass cockpit aircraft so far (Kingair, Citation, A320). It happens every time, without fail, if you fly for around 1-2 hours. Quite a lot of people have reported the same issue, looking at the forums. To add to the problem it doesn’t always occur after 1-2 hours. Sometimes it’s sooner. Unfortunately it makes the game a little unplayable at times as you’re worrying exactly when it will happen. I’ve seen it mentioned that it’s possibly a memory leak issue but I can’t pretend to know what that means haha.
Good point actually I tend to do shorter flights typically not much longer than an hour so it may explain why I have not experienced this very much.

It’s a shame, and it’s very annoying, but it is what it is. Hopefully it’ll be addressed soon.
