I can’t fly… I can’t pay attention to my aircraft or systems. For many weeks I never did a single flight!
Why?
Because this game is too freakin gorgeous!
All I can do is gawk at the aircraft and fill up my drive with screenshots! I can’t just calm down… plan a flight… just… fly…
It’s too beautiful, it’s just nuts!
You’re at 10. We need you at 7.
Glad you’re having fun!
I jest but I seriously wasn’t able to actually “play” this game because I just ended up gawking at screenshots. Flight sims are supposed to be boring! I mean reading flight manuals and such. It’s like trying to stay inside and study when it’s a beautiful day outside. Imagine trying to learn to fly if you just have your face pressed against the window the entire time like oooohhhh preeety!
Maybe turning the graphics settings down to zero would help keep focus
Haha, I know what you mean. The graogics in msfs are breathtaking.
However, to be fair, I’ve had that feeling every time we get a new version of flight sim going all the way back to fs2. The feeling does wear off though and I am soon imagining what the next level will look like. After msfs2020, what do you think we may get next?
Not alone mate, you are not alone. My In-sim profile says I have around 85 hours of flying time in MSFS, but I’ve spent about 300 more extra hours just using the drone mode to check out various airports, locations, how they look and feel in different times of the day in different weather etc etc…hours that the sim never records.
Not only the ultra-realistic and almost 1:1 world simulation, but also the flight model and the way it feels when you actually hand-fly the ‘correct’ aircraft does wonders to your brain I find, and forces me to connect with the aircraft and want to have a feel for it instead of just letting it fly itself on autopilot.
Case in point: I was watching a very popular flight sim streamer on youtube (won’t mention his ID/name here). He was doing an ILS approach to Las Vegas International airport, but right before the approach he decided to hand-fly the plane, cancel the ILS approach and asked ATC for a visual approach instead. He hand-flew the plane all the way to the runway.
When asked why he did that, he replied: “Cause the scenery is so realistic and the flight model of this particular aircraft (he was flying the Fly By Wire team’s A320NX) feels so genuine, I want to hand-fly it and take it all in…I wanna immerse myself in this whole thing instead of just sitting here letting the autopilot fly the plane”.
