Cockpit camera keybind wanted

Guys,

how can I toggle between the cockpit camera and external camera?? I found a key bind to get to the external cam and set it to the backspace key. I would like to set another (or the same if possible) key to get back to the cockpit camera but for the life of me I can’t find a binding that will do that… (??)

I’d obviously prefer not to use the camera control window from the menu bar.

Thanks :face_with_thermometer:

It should be the same backspace key to toggle between external & cockpit view. At least that’s how it was set up for me by default when I installed FS2024.

That’s what I would have expected from a toggle command but it doesn’t bring me back… probably broken.. oh well…

Do you use Drone Mode and do you have the same problem there? For a couple weeks I couldn’t get the return to cockpit view from either of those modes.

All I can suggest is delete the binding you have now and set a binding to the key I use on my keyboard its the “End” key for External View and “Insert” key for Drone view. These now work for me correctly both ways as a toggle.

Hi, thanks for the reply, it’s definitely buggy but there is a keybind that actually works. Here:

@CategoryMods maybe someone could merge the topics? I meant to make a bug report but was helped out over there.

I am not sure what the bug is, by using the keybind as explained in the other topic, you can toggle between cockpit and external camera. Maybe what you are looking for is a binding just to go from external camera to cockpit so that you use 2 different keys ?

possible… but getting back from the external cam to cockpit cam didn’t work with the other command. anyway, “toggle” is not the right word then. But with the controls menu being as confusing as it is I’m just happy to have found the right binding lol.

which command ?

okay, step by step

I had no custom set keybinds for changing the views since I’m still trying to get a grip with how differently the sim works from MSFS2020, all above the controller setup.

Then I set “Toggle external view” to the backspace key, this brought me to the external view.

I also set “toggle cockpit view” to the enter key below.

I was able to get to the external view using backspace but when I hit enter the camera didn’t switch back into the cockpit. To actually do that I had to OPEN (nothing else) the camera control app from the inflight menu bar, the view switched back into the airplane.

Doing this parallel to typing it I find that it DOES actually work now how it should. But I have changed a lot of preset keybinds over the last 3 days so it could be that there was some preset incompatibility.

Anyway, the commands do exactly what they say they do, except that “toggle” might be a bad name for a one way change, but that is a different story I guess.

So below the line I think the topic can be dealt as resolved, however there might generally be commands that have been preset that won’t work together too well. For example Ctrl+space seems to reset a view but also it toggles (on/off here) the parking brake. :man_shrugging:

Thank you though, I appreciate your time =)

This is why I always “clear” a new profile after I create it and start with a clean slate. Too many conflicts keep things from doing what they should and it’s too cumbersome to delete them.

It’s faster to just start from scratch and define only the bindings you want.

Interesting idea, is there a way to clear all without having to remove all the bindings manually?

Thanks

Yes, it’s in the same menu as Make Default and Apply to all Planes.

Cockpit/External View Mode will switch between them.
