:white_check_mark: ISSUE DESCRIPTION

  1. Description of the issue:
I have spent literal hours trying to set custom views for (some of) my aircraft. First set custom views (after setting custom keyboard commends – no conflicts – to Save and Recall them) for the H125. Worked flawlessly. Then a second aircraft and Recalling the view placed me either way forward of the save position, or way behind or sometimes behind and much higher. Currently the H125 is displaying the same symptoms (with varying ‘Cockpit’ camera positions, most of which are outside the fuselage). Other aircraft do the same.

  2. Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?
Yes, never had any Community add-ons installed.

:white_check_mark: FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you? (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)
Very frequently, it affects the vast majority of my flights (note that some camera presets work, always a few that don’t).

:white_check_mark: REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue.

  1. Load a flight
  2. Do the preflight
  3. Be disappointed by results: sometimes my viewpoint will load outside the fuselage, and sometimes far back inside the fuselage.

:white_check_mark: YOUR SETTINGS

If the issue still occurs with no mods and add-ons, please continue to report your issue. If not, please move this post to the User Support Hub.

  1. What peripherals are you using, if relevant:

Same issue here, I saved a bunch of custom cameras on certain aircraft, worked great…

Came back next day and the views are moved way forward , ahead of aircraft to the point where I am 10 feet or so outside of the plane.

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
• Yes

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• Steps to reproduce:

  1. Load C172 in free flight
  2. Set and save a custom camera 0 position. Load custom camera 0 and make sure it works.
  3. Exit and load a different aircraft in free flight.
  4. Set and save a custom camera 0 position. Load custom camera 0 and make sure it works.
  5. Exit and load the C172 again in free flight. Load custom camera position 0 and observe it being in the wrong position.
  6. Set and save a new custom camera 0 position and observe it not loading custom camera 0 when pressing the key bind.

If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:

Can also confirm I have this issue. Generally, leaving the sim and restarting and rectify. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Not sure what to make of it.

I have an idea of why this is happening. It seems to me that the camera is placing the views outside the plane when switching from one plane to another. And when switching from one plane to another it may be saving the z axis from the previous plane.

For example if you are flying the 737max, then you save your cameras, then you switch to the saab340, it will still maintain the Z axis coordinates of the 737max. It is what I just did and it seems like that is what may be happening.

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
• Yes, the first aircraft you load into will work, but any time you change into another aircraft in the same session the camera positions will be completely wrong.

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• The first aircraft you load into will copy it’s camera positions onto all other aircraft in that session, meaning you must quit to desktop and start the sim again to get other camera positions to work.

If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:

Same problem here. I’m in career mode. It happened to me after I flew and set up cameras with the 737 in free flight mode. Now I restarted the simulator and deselected the 737 in free flight mode, returning to the C172. I went back to career mode and now it allowed me to configure and save the cameras again, behaving correctly. There must be some conflict between the plane selected in free flight mode and the plane in career mode, interfering with the camera settings.

I have the same problem.

Thank you for the bug report.

We have created an internal ticket to see if our team already has this logged, and if not they will attempt to reproduce the issue and create a new bug report. This item is now marked as feedback-logged. If there is an existing bug report or one is created, we will move this thread to bug-logged

If it helps, this problem exists in 2020 also.

Root cause: Default aircraft cameras have definitions for Custom Cameras when they shouldn’t. So when you goto Camera 1, the sim will cycle through Camera 1 improperly set by the default cameras.cfg and the custom one set by the user. Basically, there’s 2 settings for “Custom Camera 1” and so on. The problem in 2024 is that with aircraft’s being streamed, we cannot edit out those default custom cameras.

Solution: Aircraft creators need to remove all custom camera definitions from their cameras.cfg file.

Having this problem too, its fecked

I’ve been using MSFS 2020 since Beta testing, and have run custom cameras for every single aircraft since day one. Not once did I have the issue described above.

In MSFS 2024 the first aircraft flown in a session always seems to work as expected, i.e. my custom views, and custom-view shortcut keys/buttons take me to where I set the view up for that particular airframe.

BUT when I switch to a second/third/fourth airframe without quitting and relaunching the sim the (custom) views are messed up (except for a few custom view I never used in the previous airframe?).

I suspect what is happening is that each airframe has a unique reference point to which the custom cameras are linked (X, Y, Z), then when a second aircraft is loaded in a single sim session the now-in-system-memory reference point is not cleared, so the X, Y, Z co-ordinates referenced by the custom view positions itself on the previous aircraft’s reference point. If this is indeed the problem, then it should be an easy enough fix if Asobo considers it important … :crossed_fingers:

Interesting, I think you might be onto something!!

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue: When setting up a custom camera, everything works correctly with saving and loading the custom camera. However, after flying a different aircraft and saving a custom camera in the new aircraft, if you go back to any other aircraft you have set up a custom camera for, when you load the custom camera it places the camera a long way in front of where you saved it (usually in front of the aircraft and not even in the cockpit!). This used to happen in MSFS2020 too and the bug got fixed but the same problem occurs in the new sim too. The only way around it is to restart the sim every time you want to fly a different plane and then the custom cameras all load correctly again.

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue? Yes and yes…

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)? Every time you set up a new custom camera in a new aircraft then go back to an old one.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Load 172, save custom camera 1 looking forward out of the plane.
  2. Switch to a different plane and do the same.
  3. Switch back to the 172 and load the custom camera to find it in front of the plane.

You can avoid this behaviour by closing and restarting the simulator after setting up your custom views for a single aircraft.

Configuring custom views for multiple aircraft in a single simulator session is currently not possible due to the bug you describe.

Same issue here, thanks @WaiseBesen9926 for the info. Cheers

But do I need to create a custom profile “My new XXX…” in Settings/Keyboard?

Very much the same here for me.

The same for me too

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• Same issue as described above.

If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:
• I set up custom views and after doing this for maybe 2 or 3 planes suddenly the keys move the views outside the ac or way differently from the custom settings. RE boot the sim and suddenly everything works again. This just custom views and it happens regularly but not predictably
