MSFS2024 - Is there a way to start cold and dark on a helipad?

From the helicopter lessons, it treats helipads as runways for helicopters. In the solo flight lesson, you start cold and dark at a regular parking space, then hover taxi to the helipad, then takeoff from there.
Its seems you start hot on a helipad but cold and dark if you start at a helicopter parking spot.
How is a âhelicopter parking spotâ identified, I didnât notice any?
Its called something along the lines of helicopter parking 01 when you zoom in and hover your mouse over the appropriate parking spots on the world . I think they are also sometime represented by a white helipad symbol on the map rather the green helipads (which start you with you engine running.
Likewise you can see helicopter parking spots in the drop-down for your starting location once you select your departure airport.
Right now I would settle for the sim actually working. There seems to be some kind of corruption with my controller profiles once I make assignments. when I reboot my system the sim now just CTDâs as soon as it is loaded. The only way around this is for me to reset the MSFS 2024 which means having to got through a longer process of getting the packages at start-up, redoing the initial set-up, reassigning controls that I need, only t for the CTD problem to return.
I cannot believe how flaky 2024 given the mess and complaints about 2020 when that was released.
People have been begging Asobo to sort this out since helicopters introduction in FS2020 and they still have not done it in FS2024??? Unbelievable!
Seems partially sorted. It seems helipads are engine running, but helicopter parking spots are cold and dark. Quite why it was not just an on/off option to start running or cold and dark is beyond me. Sometime the simplest solution works best and is flexible for everyone.
Thatâs not partially sorted, maybe IF, and a big non-existent âIFâ, all the helipads HAD a separate parking spot, then this wouldnt be as big of an issue. But many, maybe even most, dont have a âparkingâ spot therefore youâre either starting with engines running or not there at all. Absolutely atrocious.
Replying to keep this thread alive. Hopefully Asobo will add more heli-parking, or the option for cold and dark start ups on current helipads.
maybe we need to try to add it to the wish list of features ?
No need, see existing report that is logged : Helipads AND heliports won't allow a helicopter to start Cold & Dark
