Hey Everyone,
I’ve put together a Bush Trip tour of the Colorado Rockies. The trip is based on a real world trip I took with a CFI that specialized in mountain flying instruction, and trained quite a few real world pilots how to safely navigate the Rocky Mountains. His itineraries were designed to hit some of the most famous and challenging public use airports in the state in the most efficient way possible.
This trip is an expansion of his most popular flight. It will take you through some of the most spectacular scenery in the game (IMHO,) and let you operate out of some of the most challenging fields in the US. Highlights of the trip include landings at Leadville, Mineral Co, Telluride, Crested Butte, Aspen, Glenwood Springs, and Eagle Co. It also includes 4 mountain pass crossings, including Wolf Creek Pass and Keebler Pass.
Mountain flying, particularly when field elevations are high like they are in Colorado, is a more challenging form of VFR flying. If you are not familiar with mountain flying, make sure to check out the readme file included with the trip. It includes tips on how to complete the trip successfully. I also hope to have a video on the basics of mountain flying on my YouTube channel in the not too distant future.
I plan to put out two shorter bush trips based on this one that cover the northern and southern parts of this trip, respectively - for those of you who might like a shorter trip.
I look forward to hearing the feedback from the community on this trip. I hope you all enjoy!
