Many folks have tried the re-install without success. Lots of time – well spent if it works – but does not seem to be the case with this round of problems.
I’ve had unusual stability since my new PC build from SU8 and SU9. I had one CTD on SU9 but it was related to me messing with the Mixed Reality Portal.
Looks to be getting worse as I had to switch off the simulator due to the poor quality of the entire ground. It seriously looked worse than FSX at low quality.
Settings on ultra and the ground looked worse than mashed up play dough.
They’re not making it easy to enjoy!
It’s probably you, and most cannot relate.
Sad but true
Dear Original Poster
I strongly suggest to use meaningful thread subject description in your future posts.
Having done it so often, you obviously know the most efficient method of installing a clean version of windows.
I’ve had my current machine for a little over 2 years, so I’m definitely overdue; would you mind pointing me to an explainer about the best/easiest way to do it?
Weird not sure what’s happening on your end but the sim visuals appear even better for me in SU9.
Sky/clouds look much more atmospheric and realistic.
It’s not the clouds or the atmospherics but the ground and the buildings.
I guess I’m one of the lucky one’s. I fly all over the place sometimes for a couple of hours at a time and I never get CTD’s. Keeping fingers crossed that continues.
I was getting the pretty bad around Christmas. Had me convinced that my ram was bad with the memory error. Some Nvidia updates and sim updates and it’s been fine.
Sorry for a late answer. If you want to do it the proper way you’ll need a USB drive of no less than 8GB. You’ll have to download Windows media creation tool from an official MS website, and follow instructions there to make a bootable USB flash drive. There are detailed instructions on this site for the whole installation process: Redirecting Make sure when you’ll get asked for an activation key you press that you don’t have it. Your key is tied to your hardware and windows will automatically activate it once the install is finished.
I generally agree that the sim (a true masterpiece as someone said earlier) performed much better as a PC-only platform before the Xbox version was introduced. What should have been done from the outset was to separate the program into 2 distinct versions with the understanding that the Xbox version would not (and should not) be as complex and accurate as the PC version. Many of us have spent thousands upon thousands of dollars on PC peripherals to make the sim as accurate as possible. Some of us are even professional pilots. I doubt whether many career pilots are using the Xbox to fly. It’s a gaming platform first and foremost. And yes, I understand that both platforms have to talk to the same servers but I can’t believe that the Xbox version couldn’t be dumbed down to still provide a revenue stream for Microsoft while limiting its access to the very basics. If you want the real experience, just buy a PC. Just my 2 cents worth. I want my PC version to go back to using all 24Gb of my RTX3090’s memory.
Thanks for getting back!
I haven’t had any issues/crashes prior to or after SU9, guess I’m lucky.
