Completed All Bush Trips and I LOVE THEM!

I’ve begun these today; starting with the Nevada one. Got skyvector on a different screen and it’s pretty fun!

I see many, many other gamer’s tags in the air around me, all doing apparently the same trip at the same time. Cool! Even landed next to one of them.

Question: how do I interact with them? Is there a multiplayer chat?

You can assign a button to “Repair and Refuel” that will bring your plane back up to full fuel. Its not assigned by default, you have to go search for it in MISC controls. I made mine f for fix and fuel

I completely agree, these bush trips are amazing. I completed the Patagonia one using autopilot, now I’m halfway through the Balkans one also using AP.

Once I’ve completed them all using AP I think I’ll run them again using just the NavLog, no assists or VFR Map whatsoever.

I sincerely hope more bush trips are added either by MS or 3rd parties soon, because they are a lot of fun to do.

The Cub one has no auto pilot

Is that the Nevada one?

Ya, CA / NV. Yellow airplane. Slow, takes forever to get anywhere

On the XCub, you can just switch off the map screen to something else so you don’t see it.

Is there any official statement about additional content in the future? I really like the bush trips, just flying around on the other hand is not so much fun after a while. If they would add 40 more of them, I would call it a really good product.

From a ticket about the King Air’s missing/broken landing lights, I got this slightly odd reply from Zendesk (copy & paste error I think!), which hints at an answer reference future content:

We are planning to have discreet World Updates that focus on a specific region of Earth. The current plan is to do this every 2-3 months.

In order to really celebrate that particular part of the planet we are updating, we are also planning on creating some new hand-crafted airports, some new POIs and we will also attempt to provide some more activities … like landing challenges.

We are very excited about this as it will – over time - spotlight all regions of Earth, which we hope will bring focus to areas that might not be a current aviation hub.

The Bush Trips were an unexpected surprise. But the possibilities are even more exciting.

Not just all the cool places but what if there was an audio soundtrack to accompany the flight? Push play at takeoff and the narration tells the story of what you are flying over.

They need to stop resetting time during bush trips. Trips aren’t too long and can be done in on day, dusk to dawn. They need to add proper radio communication, and enable refueling at airports where fuel is provided.

I’m on the NV cub trip and refuel at every airport, even dirt strips…

Yep, I was thinking about an addon like that. Perhaps linked to Wikipedia. There is a similar app available for real life flights called Flyover Country

I also found that it does refuel automatically. I flew the first two California trips back-to-back. At Inyokern I parked off-runway - to my (pleasant) surprise, when I clicked through to the “Next” flight, my aircraft was in the same location, engine still running, but had been magically refuelled for the next trip. There was no loading screen - it simply carried on the same session as the first trip and updated the Nav Log and fuel load.

I’m not sure if advancing to the next flight reset the time or not. If every flight takes place at the same time of day, that’s a bit disappointing for sure…

To this point, I noticed last night that this is a bug in the Pilot Profile page. Every time you make a Bush Trip flight, the end number (representing total Bush Trips in the game) will increase by one!

When you first started the game, it would have shown that you have completed 0/3 Bush Trips. After every leg, it will change to 0/4, 0/5 etc. Mine is up to 0/8 now. By the time I have done all Bush Trips it will likely be something like 3/60 as well!

Rather silly bug, along with the horribly broken statistics. I have reported to Zendesk.

If you exit the bush flight menu and reenter, it resets the time. And refueling definitely does not automatically occur on all legs. You will run out of fuel for sure if you don’t use the “Refuel and Repair” hack.

Started the one in the 172. Love it so far but am stuck. Can’t refuel. The airport I am at has a fuel spot but it doesn’t work and don’t have the fuel to get to the next airport.

Go to Control settings, change filter to all, search for ‘repair and refuel’, then bind it to a key. I used F12. I read somewhere that the refuelling is supposed to happen automatically when stationary at an airfield, but that never worked for me.

Agreed! After figuring out the basics of FS, I jumped in to the Nevada bush trip and have been absolutely loving it. I’ve flown a lot of this in real life but didn’t know about a lot of these places. Of course, being able to land at abandoned and private airstrips is kind of only possible for me virtually. I’ve really enjoyed practicing pilotage off of vfr sectionals and learning about places I’ve flown on wikipedia and the internet. Totally love this and it’s brought me many hours of enjoyment right off the bat, so chapeau to Asobo there. I really hope this means more trips to come.

For refueling: I did what FlavorFlav365 said and bound the repair and refuel key. I taxi off the runway over to pretty much anywhere in the parking area and don’t shutdown, just stop, hit the button, verify I’ve got 100% fuel, and then head back out to the runway for departure on the next leg.

At first, I couldn’t figure out how to refuel at my first stop and figured maybe fuel wasn’t modeled in the bush trips. The fun part of that for me was running out of fuel a few miles from the end of one of the legs and having to respond to that in-flight emergency.
