Completed My World Tour - Visited All Countries

During 440 flights, 110,092 NM, and 462 hours I visited all 197 countries in the world. Plus, I visited three base “locations” on Antarctica.

I chose a TBM 930 for its ability to fly high and fast plus low and slow. Once I borrowed a Cub Crafters to take a few-mile hop to water land and taxi into a Monaco harbor, a country with no airports, straight roads or empty land to land.

While heading to each country, I tried to do a little research on the country. I was surprised how many countries I had never heard of. Often I took circuitous routes to see POIs, both MSFS improved or not.

Of course I know political and legal issues would not allow or hinder some of my travel. And the liberties I took with unlimited fuel, making clear and light skies to see the world made it a lot easier.

Bottom line, it was a wonderful trip even though I never left my home.

How did you track it all? Spreadsheet? Or a third party app like STKP?

Very interested in seeing your route. Where did you start and what route did you take? Did you fly true to time and date, or did you adjust to have more daylight?

I’m doing similar. Trying to land in every capital. Currently in Thailand (started in the UK). I’m using OnAir as an added dimension and have used various aircraft and a few interesting diversions. I run alongside Bushtalk Radio which is great to get local info and landmarks.

Well done!

Congratulations! I’m doing the same thing in the TBM, trying to land at every capital city!

Mostly at 17500ft VFR unless there’s a long water crossing where I go IFR at 31000. Divert for landmarks etc.

Glad to hear it is do-able. I’m finding it a little tedious at times but it’s a great way to see places you’d never thing of going to.

My route so far, currently on leg 63, Rome to Vadauz. As there’s no airport at Vaduz, it’s St Gallen to land at today:

I am also currently on a world tour - I use LNM (Little Nav Map) for the tracking and planning.

Nor does Vatican.
Nor does Andorra-
Nor does San Marino.
Have you missed those?

Fantastic achievment, well done to you. I’ve often thought about undertaking a similar task. Could you share the route you took?

My (free) flight planner will generate a tour that visits all countries. It will also generate a plan (for any country) that flies over the capital from the nearest airport, and then back to that airport.

The Vatican was one of the most interesting. I found no land sufficient to land so I landed on the street approaching St. Peter Square and taxied into the Square. So you might say I drove to the Vatican.

I used a spreadsheet.

This, to me, is simply amazing. That must have been an amazing experience!

I had a map that I was accurately tracking each flight but I unfortunately lost the specific website address with a computer crash about 3/4 on the way into the trip so I gave that up rather than starting all the work again.

Basically, I took the against the wind route: US to Caribbean, South America, Antarctica, South America, Central America, North America, Russia, Eastern and SE Asia, Pacific island nations, Australia and New Zealand, the rest of Asia, Middle East, Africa, Europe, and back to the US via the north Atlantic.

I decided my objective was to see more of the world so I adjusted time and weather for viewing. When crossing vast water or desert miles, I let time and weather stay live. I’ll admit that some multi-hour water crossings were when I would do my real life house and yard chores.

Volanta tracks it.

Depending on the sources that I could find, I only got 197 ± a couple countries depending on various definitions. You indicate about 244. What did you use as your criteria.
