So I made the jump and tried a different, unnamed sim that shares a letter with my username. One of the first recommended steps is setting up controllers. In my case two controllers with very specific non-default assignments for most buttons that I’ve been using in FS2020. The steps were very straightforward. It was only the volume of assignments (close to 30 buttons and 7 axes) that took a bit of time to work through. Even so, I finished everything in under 15 minutes, and those assignments work for every aircraft. Not helpful in this context, I know, but it goes to show that even a complex process can be trimmed down to an intuitive user experience when some thought is put into the UI.
