Hate to jump on this but the devs need to read it and fixed these problems.
Last night I figured I would log some flight time and mess with ILS ect. Full experience from the gate ect. Very much enjoying myself. Get up in the air, get everything set. Clicked VFR map. Crashed after 35 minutes of play. Go to google… Sure enough… a bug. How nice. Fed up, the flight stick gets put down and I walk away annoyed.
Today, Ok ok… lets give it another shot. Just dont use VFR map… I can live without it. Take off… 50 minute flight. ILS set. 40 minutes in. All GPS fails. No speed or altitude. Cant input Nav frequencies ect. Frozen GPS screen. For whatever reason it snaps back and starts working again. Yay!
Last turn, coming in on final. ILS set. Suddenly, camera snaps to some random target. I try to adjust the camera to point forward again. Nothing. I try anything… Nothing. Game locks up… crashes to desktop. 45 minutes of my life gone. Flight stick put away.
Completely fed up. Fix the game devs. Its great when it works, which is less and less with each patch.

I have the camera problem too! Dublin to Heathrow, after midway camera starts to do erratic stuff, after a while crash to desktop. This happened in multiple planes. I disabled AI traffic nothing works. So far, I have never been able finish a flight in the latest update!
Can either one of you think of anything you may have “clicked/rotated/spun” on, to cause the issue? A specific keystroke you may have done to cause it?
This is what the dev team needs to understand to help resolve the issue. If this is a new bug it really should be posted in the bugs section.
Let’s help them so that they can help us! I know they read the bugs section of the forum every day.
Disabling only AI traffic is not going to fix it, you need to turn off Multiplayer, Live traffic, also sugest turning off VFR as it also crashes the game.

Its a bug with focus camera, if you have any air traffic, multiplayer, AI live traffic, it will starts focusing on random plane by its own and game will crash, i think devs know about this issue as it is quite common since new update.

Thanks for the quick reply!
I was adjust mixture control when it happened.

I am seeing the same issue. You have to wonder how much testing was done on the latest patch if so many people can’t complete a flight without a CTD when using multiplayer or AI traffic. I wish they would have rolled back the patch.
I had same issue after patch. Removed everything from my community folder and restarted the game vanilla and no more problems. People should realise that after any new patch, any add on in your sim can mess with it big time. Once back to vanilla you can place add ons back in, but to be honest I wouldn’t even consider putting back an aircraft/performance mods until they have be re-configured after new patch by the community developers (you would probably be ok with scenery/airports).

I would just stick to the GA planes for now , till the airliners are sorted ( ie Autopilot , crashes to desktop etc ) .
Signed up for " A Pilots Life " , a number of days ago . Flying a Ryanair flight from Dublin to Cote de Zure ( excuse spelling ) .
A two and a half hour flight . Auto pilot at it’s usual stuff , but I’m prepared for it , so no issue .
One and a half hours into flight , crash to desktop !!

Same here, sometimes i fly 40 min, stops en seconds later crash to desktop, some times i cannot even run the runway…verry sad weekend this way…
Is there a link on how to properly find and clean up the community folder?
I did not do any clean-ups after the patch since I did not know about this.
I’m in the middle of a flight to Greenland with zero issues after 1.5 hours. It is pretty amazing how the sim is emulating real-time weather.
The random showcase camera and crash happens completely vanilla. It even happened to me before I got around to clicking fly. It really is unacceptable. And they released the update knowing that the VFR map crashes? Why? I never used it anyway but what the hell? I’m not an alpha tester anymore, i’m sick of this.

FYI, I disabled Live Traffic, and turned down all AI traffic to zero (just planes). I played multiplayer with other users and I was able to finish 2 flights (Orly - Gatwick, Gatwick - Brussels). Without the AI, the planes is much more responsive. If you don’t care, just disable AI traffic. Also, in case I closed VFR map after loading as well. The problem seems to be in ATC.
FWIW, I removed all community content to see if this camera related CTD stops, and it did not. Same problem with no community content installed.

Someone mentioned here, that I read yesterday, that overclocking the CPU “may” cause issues.
I am not overclocking my 9900K, but I do have my memory set at 4000Hz using the XMP bios setting since it is 4000Hz memory.
If these ideas stick to the wall then kewl! Otherwise, Me-No-No.
This! Twice now. Has to be a bug with pitot heater.
I thought that too at first, but the pitot heat had no effect on frozen airspeed indication, and switching to alternate static port had no effect on frozen altitude indication. Not to mention temps were about 10c above freezing. I also couldn’t change my transponder to VFR after I cancelled my flight plan because it was just entirely unresponsive…

Overclocking the CPU and/or memory in itself will not cause issues. However, an overclock that is too aggressive and not stability tested may cause issues. Hence why any decent system builder will stress and stability test their high performance workload builds.
Sadly, most people “test” their rig by booting windows and playing game or two. While that may seem stable and serve the user well for some time, as the games/sims increase in complexity and compute load demand, the users one day finds that a new game/sim seems unstable.
And the reason for this is because at build/test time the rig was not pushed any harder than current gen games at the time, and therefore not stress tested for future workloads.

Very good point. Even Steve at Gamers Nexus said that MSFS stresses the CPU like no other modern game. So while your OC may be just fine playing Battlefield or Train Sim World, or whatever where the game is heavily GPU bound, it’s going to be pushed to its limit with MSFS and the OC may not be as stable as you think. This is EXACTLY what happened to me. I had what I thought was a stable OC on my i7-9700k…until MSFS when all my cores were actually getting maxed out, and I was having stability issues. Dailed the OC back a bit and those issues were solved.
