Windows 11 Laptop, PC Gamepass
Been looking into getting a HOTAS or a Yoke and discovered that the Turtle Beach Velocity One states the following that its not compatable with cloud versions. I asked Turtle beach support and got this response "you just need to download the game.
Yes, the VelocityOne Flight is compatible with the downloaded version of MSFS2024 (independent of Game Pass or not), but not the cloud gaming version.
So looking at my hard drive I have folders for MSFS2024 so does that mean its download or is it the cloud version.
Or do I need to buy a version of MSFS2024 and if thats the case does it make anything any different. Ie does the game pass version run on lower spec graphics cards. Had been using the game pass version to see if the laptop could cope with MSFS2024 which it does.
As game purchase isnt in my budget for a controller.
Thanks
Ian
If you’ve downloaded the game from gamepass, should be fine?
What does it say when you look at the game on gamepass, does it say “installed”? If so, good to go.
For clarification, gamepass version of FS2024 is Standard edition. It’ll work the same as if you bought it standalone but only downloaded. The cloud version is just streamed over the Internet (a strong connection is required) but won’t (yet) support anything other than the Xbox controller.
Says play, under the 3 dots says uninstall, and there is 9.24GB saved to a xbox directory on the C: drive.
A Bing search came back with this
Yes, the Game Pass version of MSFS2024 is a downloaded copy . It is included with an active Xbox Game Pass subscription, allowing you to play the game on PC without needing to purchase it separately. The game is optimized for Xbox Series X|S and PC, and it comes with the latest updates and features automatically.
There is a core piece of the sim that is downloaded locally to your PC and the rest is streamed via the internet. You’re good to go with the Turtle Beach Velocity One!
Happy flying!

The cloud version TB refers to is Xbox Cloud Gaming, which you can do on devices that can’t run the sim natively like an Xbox One, phone, or I’ve even run it on my TV.
But it’s laggy and you are limited to only using a controller.
