Can anyone explain why sometimes when I startup the A320NX the SPD is automatically set to 100 ?
At the moment when I take off I do the following
- Take off
- Raise gear
- Switch throttle from TOGA to CLB when it says to
- Engage Auto Pilot which depending on airport puts me in RWY TRK or NAV mode.
As soon as I do that the plane starts trying to lower its speed to 100. I cant switch SPD to managed mode because the plane has automatically gone into VS mode mode at my current pitch due to turning on autopilot which means I then have to switch that to managed mode and then finally that allows me to switch SPD to managed and then things are back to normal.

Sometimes it doesn’t do this, for example SPD 100 sometimes won’t be there after starting up the plane. No idea why

Why does the plane sometimes aumatically engage VS mode when you select autopilot after take off but other times it doesnt ?
