Connection to Network Lost never unpauses or recovers

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

My network is fine, but MSFS24 shows Network connect is lost , wait for re-connect , is very annoying after a long range flight of 5.5 hours, I am just before entering the approach that shows lost connect , I am using the FBW A32nx.This game never shows re-connect .

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?

This is the first time it’s happened to me and I fly regularly. But I rarely do flights of 5.5 hours.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. no idea why as all my other apps Beyond ATC and Navigraph continued working without falter.

network lost exactly here, but only according to MSFS 2024

Just had this same issue for the first time since the release of the sim. Had to close the sim as it never went back. Such a frustrating thing.

I’ve lost two flights to this in the last week alone, this is absurd. Please just fix it so I won’t lose an 8+ flight because I lost connection for one minute.

Just having this as well. On PC. The internet is fine (wired, gigabit, no issues with other services, including the Xbox Hub.

I’m experiencing a very similar issue in the UK. MSFS 2024 first lost connection to the server during a flight and showed error code 001-500. After restarting the simulator, it got stuck at “Authentication in progress (12/22)” for several minutes. My internet connection is stable: 911 Mbps download, 109 Mbps upload, 11 ms ping and 0 ms jitter. I’m attaching screenshots of both errors. This happened on September 15, 2026

I’m just now getting this issue. Are the servers down? I KNOW for a fact I have Internet. I’m using it to post on here.

This has been happening to me for about the last month now. I’m on fiber Internet with consistent gigabit performance. Inevitably, after about 90 minutes in the simulator, this bug rears its head. It happens whether using a VPN or not. Other streaming services are not affected. I can even pop up a VPN and torrent on this connection with consistent performance, so it isn’t that.

During these events, the ping time to common backbone DNS servers like 4.2.2.1, 1.1.1.1, and 9.9.9.9 is 13-15ms.

To reiterate, this is a new problem since late August or early September. Obviously, other people in this thread have been having it for longer.

I have also just started having this issue. It started last Thursday. I have both ethernet and wifi options and it fails. I can’t even start a flight anymore. It sits at the screen where you select your route after pressing the Fly Now button. I leave it for a very long while and eventually I get the internet error.

  • I have tried multiple different WiFis and ethernet
  • Restarted modem and routers
  • Turned off Photogrammetry
  • Turned off multi-player and live weather
  • I experience no internet blips for any other app using internet at the same time
  • I have disabled Steam downloads
  • I even tried switching to the beta version and it had the same issue.

I think this has to be on Asobo. I have tried everything including using a VPN but nothing works.

for me this started happening around the same time frame.

This is totally on Asobo. I tried everything I could with the wireless connection, and everything looked okay. Some people suggested that there were “microinterruptions” that MSFS was more sensitive to. So I did what I was going to do anyway, and got new networking equipment and went from 1Gbps to 3Gbps service. Still did it.

In desparation, I finally snaked a Ethernet cord across the house. The backbone is actually clicking away at around 4.5Gbps on a good moment, and never drops below 3Gbps. An Internet speed test (the Bing thing) shows that I’m pulling a constant ~650Mbps or better from that server. I have 7ms latency to Level3’s DNS (4.2.2.1). AND IT IS STILL HAPPENING.

This is totally on Asobo.

Yep, it’s not a networking issue at all. You can have excellent connectivity and as per my original post see positive communication with Asobo/Microsoft/Xbox servers.

It appears it’s more likely a condition within the UI that forces the screen to stay open. Someone suggested you could force close what is effectively a html page layered over your game and continue to fly which is true, but it also disabled some other UI elements so is not the best solution. But weather, photogrammetry all works.

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue: When unpausing the sim after the computer has been in sleep mode (which is the only way to effectively save a flight for later with complex planes without other 3rd party tools), the sim does not attempt to reconnect with services in a graceful way, causing the sim to think the servers are down, and boot the player to the main menu, or the desktop, which is functionally the same as a CTD in terms of UX. The game session progress is lost with no way to restore it.

This is a regression from 2020 which had no problems handling this, it would keep flying and reconnect. It stands to reason that 2024 could have no problems handling this either, if the disconnection logic wasn’t so aggressive.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?

100%

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Start a flight, pause during cruise

  2. Put computer to sleep

  3. Wake computer some hours later and a few minutes after PC wakes (once CPU usage has stabilised and well after it has reconnected itself to the network), resume flight.

  4. Observe that the game runs fine until the no connection kick happens after a minute or so.

(This was done with a working internet connection and no service issues reported for MSFS, the fault is synthetic and appears likely to occur due to a design flaw in either the disconnection or authentication logic.)

PROPOSED SOLUTION

Add an “attempt to reconnect” button to the disconnection screen, or a way to re-authenticate, or both.
