For those who don’t have an AZERTY keyboard, looks like the date is 23 of October. Great job Mr Lagaffe.
Hi,
Almost all the bugs discovered yesterday (Sim-Outhouse forum) have been resolved and fixed. Lacking time, I couldn’t redo the directional front wheel because it would have been necessary to modify the 6 Blender files so a full day to compile and check in the two simulators.
This release is useable under MSFS 2020 and also MSFS 2024.
Two bew variations are included:
- a PBY-6A with it repaint CALYPSO (J.Y. Cousteau Fundation)
- a PBY-5A with it turret (military version but with a modern instrumentation) in two repaints of BlackCat.
The version v0.9.2 is therefore available on my site respecting the following tips:
- all my downloads are presented in French but also in English so it is not necessary to access them via Google-translation
- you do not need to have a personal account on this site
- to protect my files from hotlinks, each download is protected by a generic account and its associated password, this information is specified in the few highlighted lines of yellow, the information to be entered is indicated in red.
Here is the direct link on the English page: http://frenchvfr.free.fr/download.php?lng=en&pg=808&tconfig=0
The next release before the end of this year will include:
-
all mapping and textures will be reworked in PBR (internal and external) -
the management of hydraulic systems. -
the management of icing on the wings and the windshield -
the management of the internal lights of the cockpit -
the sounds will be reviewed to use a WWISE package
PBR Textures and Icing management needs to import the 6 blender files under Blender 4.2 and the last Asobo plugin to be able then to use the PBR Painter plugin that I use to create PBR files. It’s an important task so I preferred to carry it out during the last step so that the 3D files are final to finish the UV with confidence ![]()
Thanks.
I notice that with v. 0.9.2 starting cold and dark, the EFB won’t appear, the glass nav won’t react (clicking on “ok” does not work) and when starting to taxi, the nosewheel does not steer. The nosewheel switch does not work. Only when spawn on the runway everything is working. Also, landing on the water caused the sim to register it as a crash and informed me, that I crashed into an object.
I wonder if I am doing things wrong.
Other than that, I am happy with the Canso PBY-5.
Hello,
As this aircraft is always in WIP, I don’t had the time to write a manual which be changed every day: the EFB don’t appear if the Control Lock is displayed because this safety bar “crosses” the body of the pilot if it is displayed … which can only be done by using the EFB
The nose wheel steer is a known bug as you can read on the few lines that present this release on my site just before the download link. Unfortunately no one reads these warnings ![]()
What do you mean by “glass nav won’t react” ? The right glass for the copilot is perfectly functional, if this is the point you are talking about.
Thanks for the nosewheel switch, this wasn’t detected until now but the issue with the nose wheel having been resolved two days ago : Asobo’s function is very difficult to implement and depends on too many factors (I can give more details if you want) so it is now controlled via rudder’s commands, it will be as well now ![]()
For the crash which appears in landing on water: this was fixed yesterday thanks to the tests that are performed by some friends on Sim-Outhouse, so the issue is resolved in the working version v0.9.3.
On this working version, all the bugs we found during 10 days of testing have been resolved.
A function that I wanted to implement since many days was added yesterday: perceptible vibrations were added to a number of controls (throttle levers, pedals) as well as on the main gauges needles in order to have a more immersive addon.
The area between 2450 and 2650 RPMs that must be used occasionally manifests itself as a powerful shaking action of the throttle levers and will be signaled in the future by appropriate engine sounds
.
Thank you for your response. I am aware that this plane is WIP and I did read that there is a bug in the nosewheel steering, but that seems only when starting cold and dark. And in v .0.8.0 the nosewheel steering was working. Could it be, that current issue is caused by implementing the nosewheel steering switch?
About “the glass nav won’t react”: maybe I was to short in explaining, but when started the enging, the cockpit looks like the screenshot. You can see the screens with the white “knob” with OK. Normally, when clicking on the Enter knop on the right side of that screen, you activate the display. Not this time. As with the nosewheel steering, it is working and fucntional when I start with the plane spawn “hot and running” on the runway.
For the first question, my answer is no. The nose wheel sterring was yet implemented in v0.8.0 but all theXML code which was in Legacy format has been reviewed to be ModelBehavior at all.
Since October 19th, this version is tested by more than 20 people, some of whom use and abuse the functions available on this panel. No one has reported anything so far about its use and especially not this kind of thing.
For reference: An old project brought up to date: Canso PBY-5 of SAGQ | Page 6 | SOH Forums
The entire radio panel only uses basic elements of MSFS and nothing else. The XML code is the same as on other aircraft using this panel: AS530, AS450, etc.
Thank you for including a screenshot but I am sorry to tell you that it is almost unreadable on the relevant part. Nevertheless, by zooming with a very strong factor I manage to read: Loading your database in MSFS. Which leads me to think that it would rather be a problem with updating MSFS than a bug in the addon, but I practically never use these gauges preferring to fly VFR.
Have you try leaving only this addon in the Community directory?
Do you use an external product to update yours databases?
I just tried to load in MSFS 2020, the GPBYA variation, select the EFB and click on Cold&Dark button and then validate the DONE button. after switch battery ON and Avionics ON the display is correct.
To conclude, we don’t know if it happened to you in FS 2020 or FS 2024.
I am in MSFS 2020. I will look into it. As far as I know I do not use external products to update my database.
