Hi all, im wondering if anyone else is having the same issue?
I’ve a month old build i can play other titles with no issue but if i try an update or even a reinstall i get rebooted, no blue screen just a complete reboot…ive no issues drive wise i’ve tried my ssd and an external same outcome…any help or advice would be most welcome…cheers all
Okay you have different hardware to me. I suspect I’m having some sort of USB current overdraw issue. The symptoms of my crash are that the screen goes blank, all the RGB things connected to my Commander Pro light up and the fans wind up to maximum.
The PC is completely frozen and I have to use the power switch at the back of the PC to turn it off.
I’ve never seen anything like this happen until the update yesterday.
Thanks for your advice, my disabling rgb didn’t work. I’m going to unplug Trackir, external HD and any controller and try again…Funny thing is…I downloaded 2 big games earlier to check…RDR2 and Bioshock infinite.
Both downloaded fine, run fine but there’s no way that MSFS is allowing me to either update or reinstall…I can reinstall the initial steam files but not when it connects to the Asobo.?? Servers. Same as you mate, no issues previously (220 odd hrs in msfs) thanks
I’ve left the Cessna 172 floating in the water near Bora Bora so long to see how long things last.
Like you, I haven’t had any issues with the sim since Alpha and I can play stuff like CyberpPunk and Mass Effect Andromeda for hours without issue.
I’m having issues of not being able to get to the main menu where it sticks on checking updates and the only way I’ve found to proceed is to disable and then re-enable my Ethernet. I can’t get on the Marketplace either to update the rest of the sim bits. So far I’ve only been able to try out the discovery flights.
Fingers crossed you find a solution, I’ve disabled everything apart from keyboard and mouse. I’m not holding onto any hope that this latest reinstall will work though I’d be massively surprised if my hardware was the issue…like you I can game on other titles for hrs. I had ATS running with track ir last night for 4 odd hours. Thing is…it’ll start the download (reinstall) go along for a while then…bang reboot, no warning bsod nothing. Very strange. Ps I’m at 3.14 gb of 124 gb haha a looonnggg way to go
It seems that I’ve misunderstood you. I had no issues apart from a slow download to get the game updated (apart from the Marketplace bit) but it’s once I’m at the main menu that my system has been locking up or when I’m in a flight.
Ahh no worries, I’m at a loss I really am. Disabling everything hasn’t worked either. 4.5 gb downloaded then reboot. Never ever had any issues downloading anything previously including any previous updates…thanks anyway for your input.
I’m afraid we seem to have different hardware issues.
In the case of a spontaneous reboot I’d suspect the power supply. Have you tried limiting framerate while doing the download? My system was pulling over 300W (Nvidia RTX 2080S and i7-8700) until I limited the framerate. In case your PSU has suddenly become flaky it might help.
Thanks il try it. Hope it isn’t a psu issue it’s a brand new 850w Corsair gold one. Good thing is my build is still well within warranty, mad thing is…no other title reboots my pc, no other download reboots the PC. Proper head scratcher for sure.
Update: After many many hours of re-downloading. I’ve got the sim running again. I timed it at 55 minutes with no crash or CTD. Then I installed the FBW A320 and had a CTD before I could start the flight. The default A320 loads fine. Deleted the FBW A320 for now.
I haven’t re-installed my RGB controller yet, want to play around with the sim a bit more. The performance improvement is quite noticeable though, feels much smoother. Lots of weird changes to controls etc. that I have to figure out still.
Glad you’re up and running hst12 I’m still having major issues with the PC rebooting, tried uninstalling programs, roll back windows update, throttling download speeds and still I get reboots. Played resident evil village for 4 hours last night…No reboots. It’s proper Pi$#ing me off now mate.
Cheers, I’m finally in after days of copying and pasting. I’ve just got to add the free content manager stuff. Then il hopefully fly around a bit keeping an eye on any CTD,s . Hopefully if all goes well il add my community folder and keep my fingers crossed…Cheers again hst12 and happy flying mate
@hst12 just thought I’d jump in and let you know what’s happening mate. Installed eventually, hot fix applied ran the sim on the discovery Naples flight and SAN Francisco, London etc…touch wood no CTD,s or crashes to desktop in over 2 hours.
The GPU runs a touch warm tho haha, sorted with a personal fan curve in Afterburner. I’ve even managed to put the terrain and objects to 200 and it’s smooth as butter. I agree with other comments on the forum I personally believe there’s been some sort of graphic downgrade, but it still looks incredible. I’m hoping to take a flight later or tomorrow with the A320n mod installed to try a flight from Gatwick to Paris. Hope you’re all good at your end mate.
I was away for the weekend and have only had the chance now to try the hotfix.
The result is not good - getting a lockup with all fans spun up to max again the moment I reset the graphics options to default.
I guess the next step is to disconnect the Corsair Command Pro fan controller and plug all my case fans directly into the motherboard to see if the fan controller is acting up.
Prior to this hotifx the sim was running fine except for the washed out look.
