The Content Manager shows me that many updates are pending which I check, but wen MSFS starts and checks for updates nothing happens…Is there a way to force the updates to be downloaded?

I believe you will see that your core content (the first item in content mgr) is up to date. What is pending is aircraft, airports, etc… What this means is there are newer versions but, until the core content is updated, they cannot be downloaded. Probably just a different development schedule. Once the new core version is available it should download and that will allow you to update the rest. This is how mine has worked in the past. I too have lots of pending updates in my CM.

Most likely they will install next week together with World Update II - North America.

Barring any delays for issues, the core updates will be coming with the next patch and USA World Update on Tuesday.

All the information was released in Asobo’s Dev Blog yesterday.
It’s a USA World Update, not North America (straight from Asobo - it’s community referring to it as North America Update. Asobo have never claimed to be doing anything but USA).
And there’s no way to force the updates yourself. Once they release the core patch that you’ll get either from Steam or the MS Store, THAT will be the new version of the game required for all those other updates to download.

Yeah, it’s currently planned for next Tuesday, Nov 24th, unless rescheduled due to technical concerns etc.
