For a few weeks now, I’ve been considering buying a PC while I’ve been on the XBOX X for a few months.
I would like to be able to use complex airliners but I don’t see anything coming for the moment.
I saw in the last blog post that the Asobo teams are working on the integration of Wasm on XBOX.
So I wonder if I should wait until SU10 to make my decision because it could allow for example to have the PDMG 737 on XBOX.
They are indeed working on it, it really comes to several questions.
- How long do you want to wait, SU10 is not until at least late July, as per the following quote from the March Q&A.
Even then, all addons aren’t immediately going to be available in the marketplace, and that will probably add more time to that.
Chat question - Do we have an update for a short-term solution for the Xbox WASM [WebAssembly] issue? Timestamp
Jorg - The team is working on it. It is unclear, yet, if we can get this in Sim Update 9. I think the more the more realistic time would be Sim Update 10, which would be late July. We know it’s not super fast, but we also need to test this. There’s lots of work being done. We think the solution will work, but we need to really be careful. I think people have been waiting. There’s a bunch of different planes we need to look at.
Martial - There’s also another layer of loading things and adding some pieces of code that have been signed. Also, we need to do some regression [testing]. That’s why we need to test the system to make sure it works with everything so the community will be pleased by the solution.

The next question is, do you want and can you afford to spend, the money required for a PC, and then only a few months later have these addons available on Xbox.

Which platform do you like better? A lot of folks do like the Xbox graphics more than a PC.
The PC does add a lot of functionality in menus and addons that Xbox probably won’t have.
When it comes down to it, it really is a big decision only you can answer!!
Yes you are right I will probably wait for the SU10 because until now I am very happy with the performance of the Xbox series X with MSFS. If Asobo manages to offer complex airliners around July/August then I will be totally satisfied
I’m at a similar decision point - played on xbox for a few months (almost 300 hours!) and in general the performance has been great; however, I am going to build a PC within the next month for the following reasons:
- Access to “freeware” airports, mods and add-ons. While I can wait until summer for PDMG 737 I’m more interested in the FBW320 and 787 mods which probably will never come to xbox.
- Control over graphics settings so that larger airports that constantly CTD for me on xbox will be usable.
- Wider access to 3rd party hardware devices. The velocity one is great, but I’ve gotten to the level where I want to explore some other controls.
- The option to integrate with 3rd party in-game content like navigraph.
Xbox has been a great experience for me and got me “hooked” on the sim, but there are some things you can only access with a PC.
