Control issues on Xbox since last update

Just a query re controls on Xbox being messed up since last update.

Everytime I log in since last update and try to go for a little fly the controls for most aircraft seem to have a mind of their own. Random veering and or pitching or climbing, throttle controls none responsive or throttling up and down of their own accord. It’s getting to the point where I can no longer be bothered with the SIM. I mainly use Xbox controller but I have a TM hotas and a wireles keyboard and mouse. ALL are affected. Please, any advice/help would be greatly appreciated

Have you checked sim settings? I’ve read that some have had the modern control method change to legacy and that needed changing in settings. My sim settings did change to easy after a recent update meaning most controls had some assist on them, double check you may find that’s the reason.

I only use controller and keyboard and running fine now

Also, check your Piloting Assistance options.
Having these on often causes this issue, and these settings are ocassionaly known to get changed without user knowledge.

Thanks for the tips both yourself and @Rentech . Neither solution has worked unfortunately. So I think my time in the SIM is over until it returns to pre update 10 where I had no problems. I know that isn’t going to happen so I’m done

Any recent purchases from the Marketplace added?
An addon conflict could cause this.

Having more than one controller for the same flight axis can also cause this.

So unplug hotas and mouse and keyboard unless I specifically want to use them? And switch off controller if using hotas etc?

I would try this first and see if this is the solution, and then if so, experiment with them and see which of these you can use, and which affect the sim.
My suspicions are the hotas and the xbox controller may not like being plugged in at the same time, but again, experiment and see what you come up with.

That isn’t necessary, because I use all of those peripherals at once with my Xbox.

As @TheSevenflyer suggested, the sim doesn’t like it when there are multiple flight surface controls mapped to axis on multiple active devices at the same time.

In easier English, just make a new control mapping profile for your Xbox controller (and mouse, if it’s mapped in anyway to control surfaces) and ensure that you don’t have the thumbsticks and triggers mapped to control surfaces. You can still use the thumbsticks for camera movement, but unmap the rudders, ailerons, elevators, etc. and just have those axis assigned to the Hotas.

The other thing I’d do is make sure your Hotas isn’t inputting “rogue” inputs by checking the deadzone settings in the sensitivity settings section. What I’ve sometimes found, on my Hotas, is the twist grip (for rudder control) needs more of a deadzone to prevent inadvertent rudder inputs, for example. I’d see these rogue inputs even when I have the twist grip lock set to prevent the twist action while pedals are connected — I could still see the rudder axis twitching while moving the flightstick through its X&Y axis while observing the sensitivity sliders for the twist axis. Increasing the deadzone helped to cure that.

You might have something like that going on with one or more of your axis.

The positive takeaway here is that there are many of us on Xbox with similar peripherals using them successfully. There’s a solution to be found to cure what ails your setup.

Same here.

Started playing the game on Cloud after getting Xbox’s Game Pass yesterday. Am on PC, playing on Chrome, and I was having a lot of fun, no issues whatsoever.

But suddenly a few hours later, I couldn’t take off anymore. Sometimes it allows me to throttle up for take off when I start the flight scenario, but just about 8 seconds later it goes back to zero and holding A won’t accelerate anymore. Clicking the physical throttle inside the cockpit and moving it forwards will work as long as I keep pressing, because once I release my finger it’ll go back to zero instantly.

Today I tried it again, and I can take off but as soon as I’m in the air, the plane just goes full left and crashes without responding to any of my inputs. Throttle also goes to 0% or 100% by itself.

Tried setting a deadzone for the analog sticks, but this made them not even being able to act as cursors in the menus.

After a lot of patience I managed to reset the controls to default, but soon the problem returned and the planes were making full turns by themselves or zeroing throttle and some keys stopped responding (like the change camera view one between 3rd and 1st persons).

Exactly this  describes my problem word for word

Near the top of this thread are a few things that can cause this, have you tried these?

As the talk about HOTAS, I don’t own one, just using a regular console-ish controller.

Tried Piloting Assistance, thing is all of them are still at the same options they were before I had this issue, and I haven’t connected any other USB device or controller. Literally nothing happened on my setup since before the issue started manifesting itself.

This is really frustrating, been going through the control settings for a couple hours now and experimenting, but no hope of seeing it going back to normal. At this rate I’ll have to give up playing the game since I don’t have enough space to install it (hence why I’m running it on Cloud), and I’ve waited two years for the chance of it.

Just to confirm, are the piloting assistance settings on?
When on, they are known to cause these exact issues.

Yes, they were on, but even after I disabled all the maneuvering assistant settings, the plane still rolls over.

You mention “console-ish” controller.
What are you using?

It’s an Xbox One controller, sorry about the confusion, english is not my first language.

Edit: Ok, so it seems it has become somewhat more stable just now. Some of the camera controls were reassigned (Looking up/down/left/right both in the cockpit and exterior views went to the “lockable” entries rather than the usual, only found them after I disabled filters), also disabled Pilot Assistance (even though it’s still uncomfortable to take off compared to the first couple of times I played) and it’s pretty hit or miss whether the plane will suddenly bank to one direction and crash.

Some planes are flyable :+1:t2: others still not.

Will keep an eye on which can be flown and keep away from those others. However ctds are back with a vengeance so swings and roundabouts
