Controller profiles can't be deleted

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
Several controller profiles I created can’t be changed or deleted anymore. E.g. I created a profile called “none” for which I deleted all assignments. Afterwards I wanted to add one new assignment but now it asks me to create a new profile. And I can’t delete the created “none” profile.

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?
Yes

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?
Always

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Clone a standard controller profile
  2. Give it a new name (e.g. “none”)
  3. Change an assignment
  4. Asks to create a new profile (“none” can’t be used)
  5. “None” can’t be deleted or renamed

I thought the profile called ‘none’ was one of the embedded default ones - so you cant delete it?

Thanks for your feedback. When I first started up the SIM, I only had one profile per peripheral with the name of the peripheral (e.g. Warthog HOTAS Joystick 2024) - and I created those “none” profiles for which I removed everything. Now probably half of those “none” profile can’t be changed or deleted anymore (some even got duplicated). Maybe they introduced “none” profiles later and this is now colliding with “my” none profiles. Probably the case if nobody else experience that bug.

I certainly have profiles called none in mine …and I did not create them.

Thanks! That would explain why I have duplicated “none” profiles - probably one created by me and the other one a system default none profile (which weren’t there on day 1). Thanks!

I have the same problem - I am not able to delete custom device profiles I created with different names (not “none”)

Thanks for the feedback. I actually switched back to 2020, but I also had the same issue with profiles not named “none”. Just one of many bugs - which I hope are fixed in 1-2 years (like 2020 which also required a few years to run smoothly…

Same here… I´m not able to delete custom created and named controls profile (keyboard). After try to delete sim crash down. This happens from launch, have tried after many clean installs etc.

This controller interface for MSFS 2024 is garbage, even in SU3. Renaming/deleting all fail. Then try importing them after exporting. FAIL unexpected error occured. I have so many duplicate profile names and non-deleted profiles it is just embarassing.

Restarting sim does nothing, in fact my aircraft get other aircraft profiles and I have to check EVERY time I load an aircraft into the sim.

What to do? Create blank profiles and use SPAD.neXt take care of everything? At least their software WORKS.

GARBAGE interface, how can something so simple as an XML file get so borked. These controller interfaces are our bread and butter and yet somehow we are presented with this time consuming load of absolute rubbish and drama.

I tried create a profile called “None” in 2024 which caused a CTD! I ended up using the colloquial “Nowt” to avoid the problem…

Same problem as the rest of you, the profiles created or duplicated can no longer be deleted… and cause the simulator to crash, I must point out that the community is empty… just in case…And you have to wait 15 to 20 seconds to change profiles
This module is garbage, what a shame!

Further to this I believe I have discovered the issue. If you have too many individual profiles for all of your aircraft the whole interface breaks. I remember it was working fine until I added yet another profile. I was renaming/duplicating profiles so that each of my aircraft had their own unique one when it suddenly got the real slow issues many people seem to have - and it has never been the same since. Can’t delete, real slow to respond etc.

I use SPAD now so I decided to create a base profile for each controller within the sim (well actually two, the top 2 profiles out of the 3 that you can create. Forget about the aircraft specific one. Just create the other two) and EXPORT them. Be smart about what you include in them, make them very generic and all-encompassing. Export them somewhere safe.

Then NUKE the whole lot by deleting your cloud saves.

  1. Close the sim.

  2. Run this as admin CMD line to remove all cloud save files.
    start shell:appsFolder\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App -DeleteCloudSaves

  3. The sim will automatically start again. Shutdown to desktop after it does.

  4. Then locate and delete the cloud save files locally: go to C:\Users\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\SystemAppData\wgs

  5. Delete all files in that folder.

  6. Restart sim and import your saved profiles. The GUI will now be fast and responsive and you can start again. Just be aware that there will be some settings within the sim that will go to default. But your career profile, camera views, graphics settings and marketplace library etc stay intact. Just some annoying settings like full assistance mode, etc. Nothing major and you will revert very quickly.

I for one am glad I did this. Now SPAD can control the few different bindings I need to control specific aircraft.

Yep after experimenting once I had nuked all of the profiles as mentioned in my previous post, I have confirmed further that if you have too many profiles that garbage MSFS GUI starts to misbehave.

Just create base profiles and assign them to all aircraft to use. Just be smart and cover all the basic controls to share.

Then for individual aircraft that need slight tweaking, mainly payware ones in my case, keep the MSFS profiles to a minimum. No more than half a dozen does the trick, or do what I have done and use SPAD or Axes and Oh’s to add the few changes you plan on adding to your your special aircraft and allow your MSFS base profiles continue to control the basic common bindings.

My guess is that after about 10-15 MSFS native profiles exist it all starts going ■■■ up in that GUI.

Really? This still hasnt been fixed?
