Correct livery with AI traffic (real-time online ) with a320neo

The aircraft cfg’s are having the line isAirTraffic. If you set that to 1 the game will use that FLTSIM for AI traffic. You also need to set the use of generic models for AI traffic to on (in the game settings).

The line icao_generic = 1 means that this aircraft will be used for everything that is flying around. It doesn’t matter if the real plane is a M or H wake category and what model it is.

The icao_generic model tends to override other model matches for departure traffic. The arrivals are legit but departures are getting screwed. You need to go to ZERO icao_generic models in order to have 100 percent legit IVAO models for departure.

Hi guys, till the last sim update (Sim Update 3) I have been using offline traffic using some custom A320N liveries, some other converted AI models and bgl files compiled with AI Flight Planner. Everything was quite ok but the last update has broken everything! I managed to restore most traffic but I am still experiencing two issue and really don’t know how to solve them…I hope you may help me.

  1. No custom A320s are showing (regardless they are IVAO models or converted FAIB models) but always default A320N despite I have set it icao_generic = o and icao_generic=0;
  2. When more than one airlines use the same model, I get only repeated liveries (even thought I have as many model folder as many textures).

Thanks in advance for your kind support.

so if I change all the models to generic 0 then all the IVAO models will show but then I won’t be able to use the megapacks planes correct? At this point I would have to choose between those?

If you go with no generic model you need to create some copies of your IVAO models and give them other ICAO type designator in order to cover all aircraft flying around. I use the IVAO B738 for other 737 and CRJ flights.

You also need to trick the system a bit because the game wants at least one model as icao_generic or otherwise you will get a CTD.

here’s what I did: changed all the models to generic 0 except for the IVAO planes, I kept them as 1. Then I made sure use generic model was selected in the game. Loaded up KLAX and was happy to see IVAO models at the gates but then felt frustrated because nothing moved in the air or on the ground. I am beyond furious that we have to work this hard to see some planes. I am grateful for your help but so upset with Asobo that I feel like going back to P3D for a year. This game is not fully ready for everyone to enjoy.

How are you managing to get ivao models to show up in live traffic…Do tell…You have them in community or in an Air Traffic folder with layout/manifes/auto exe or how.

Thanks if you care to share…

BobM.

I just put the IVAO folder into community folder and activate it using addon linker. They won’t move but the models make it look like a real airport.

The game will only use 2 folders for icao_generic so it’s not worth flagging all models. The planes will only show up if the ICAO code is correct. An IVAO B738 will only show up if there is a 737-800 in real life. That’s why you need to create copies and cover all kinds of ICAO codes.

If you want to use IVAO models only you need to get away from using icao_generic.

Here is a pictures of my setup.

Here are 2 IVAO B788 for JAL at Haneda Airport.

It’s the same structure like any other airplane or livery in the game. I don’t really understand why you guys are having so much trouble.

So you are copying the ivao plane…changing the icao designator to E145 etc etc etc…Could you show us the folder layout of one of the ivao copies… Interesting!!! and maybe a cfg lol… The ideas is that if you change the icao designator to say CRJ2 that if a flightaware aircraft CRJ2 will show up but as a 737-800? or a E145 as a 737-800> uhhh? The two JAL 788’s aren’t connected to the ivao 7378WLfa so you have them from a different model. Ivao has no 788 that I know of.

Thanks @Chaezaa

BobM.

That’s exactly how it works.
Here is the general section for the B738.
b738_og
Here is the general section of the B738 being used as model for E45X.
B738_E45X

IVAO has the B788 as model.

You can also try to place the actual model files in the model folders instead of just the model.cfg which points somewhere else. That’s what i did.

Thanks @Chaezaa
BobM.

The IVAO models are already ready to use. I just placed the names for the FLTSIM model folders and the ICAO codes in the cfg. Everything else is still original.

Lets say fltsim0 say Model="gwi"
and flt sim 1 say Model=""

Do you have to change the model name for all of these to be: Model=“gwi”

Thanks @Chaezaa

So you are:

  1. Making a copy of B738WLfa
  2. renaming it (for example CRJ2)
  3. Just changing in the [general] section the icao designator, manufacturer and model

Is that correct?

Also…are you changing any of the Fltsim.0 -xxx lines in each folder?

Are you leaving icao_generic=0 line in [general]?

One final question: How would you get for example CRJ 550 United Express livery to show? Would I need to change anything in IVAO beyond what you have described?

Sorry one other thing I noticed is both AI and User traffic are set to 0 in each Fltsim line. Did you change isAirTraffic=0 to 1?

FLTSIM.1 would need a different model name. Every FLTSIM needs its own model folder. If you have 100 FLTSIM you need 100 model folders.

If i copy the B738 in order to cover another ICAO code i also need to change the FLTSIM titles. Every title needs to be unique. If a title exists multiple times that FLTSIM won’t work.

Since there is no CRJ 550 from IVAO i would need to copy another plane and change the ICAO code to cover the 550. I could copy the texture of United Airlines and create a new FLTSIM with the ICAO for United Express.

isAirTraffic needs to be at 1 or the FLTSIM won’t be used for traffic.

Ok…I think I am starting to understand this. Will give it a shot. Thanks.

I forgot to ask what you meant by “the game will only use 2 folders” and “not worth flagging all models.”

I want to make sure I am not doing extensive editing for no reason…lol.

Lets say you would set icao_generic = 1 for the A319, A320, A321, B738 and B739. The game would only use 2 of them as generic. Another thing is that the game is not combining these 2 folders. It chooses the aircraft first before it checks for the livery.
