Corrupted profile - CTD when trying to change identity

msfs-2024

I was hoping one of you could help me. Basically during all of the troubles we had with FS2024 at launch, when I eventually did get past the 97%, none of the identity objects (or planes… or anything else!) was loading. I skipped and accepted everything regardless as I wanted to see if I could fly. Roll on a couple of days and now everything has calmed down a bit, I want to have a go at Career. Unfortunately, I don’t seem to have an identity which seems to break the career. What I do see is this person holding a sign:

When I try and change it in the appearance the game crashes. I’ve tried deleting my local game files, uninstalling + reinstalling but it’s always the same thing.

I’ve even tried deleting my cloud save using “start shell:appsFolder\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App -DeleteCloudSaves”. This works in that it resets all my settings, but as soon as it gets through to the customize your identity bit, I get this model again which I can’t change. It crashes the game whenever I try to change it to something else. Has anyone fixed this? I really want to play Career, but so far I can only do free flight and the challenges.

I hope I don’t have to wait for a fix for this to be released.

theres already numerous reports on this as i have same - not hearing anything on whether MS understand the issue and are working on it or not.
INcidently i can only fly if i spawn in air as on ground its as if im standing below the plane with head inside the cockput between the seats.

Ah, it’s good to know I am not alone then! Yes, I have the same thing with being stuck in the ground between the seats as well and can’t move. Hopefully they get a fix out for this.

if you skip past that point you should be able to fly free flight providing you dont spawn at a gate (i certainly can if i spawn at random location)

@PineappleJ Are you still having the issue?

For some bizarre reason, I flew a couple of free flight missions and then went back to the main menu, I saw a bald elderly asian woman as my profile character. I then clicked in and could change my profile from then on! I don’t know who she is but she’s saved my game :grinning:

Not sure if someone is actively making fixes to corrupted cloud data, but I’m happy. If you’re still seeing the issue then maybe it’s something I did, though not sure what it was. Let me know if it’s fixed for you.

I’m still suffering from this as well :frowning: No luck with the random elderly Asian lady fix for me!

Ok, I’ll try and repeat what I did to seemingly fix it. First I loaded this airport (Chagual airport in South America):

The odd thing about this is that it had already pre-selected an aircraft for me. It was orange with text on the back. I didn’t really think much about it and started flying. I just guessed it was a scenario or something because of the star by the airports name. When I loaded in I started flying and used the external view, the first glimmer of hope for me was that I saw a pilot model flying it as opposed to the red error model.

I’ve tried to identify what the aircraft was, but bizarrely I can’t find an exact match so far. The plane was orange and it had text on the back like it was part of a sightseeing tour or something. Maybe when you select a location like this, this is automatically loaded the first time. In any case, I suspect it was this that fixed the issue for me.

After that I tried switching into the Jetson One aircraft which again showed a pilot. I then tried using the free camera to have a look at some of the scenery. Finally I went over to Bembridge on the Isle of Wight in the UK with the Jetson One again and used the free camera some more. I went below the level of the ground accidently on one occasion trying to get some good screenshots.

I then went back to the main menu and found that on the career menu option, that lady was prominently visible on the button. I then went into Customise Identity and found that she had been set as my default.

This is pretty much all I did and fortunately for me it worked. Give it a go anyway and I hope it fixes it for you as well.
