Could users ever help to train the AI and/or make global edits to autogen buildings?

Could it make sense to leverage the large and global user base to help to train the autogen building and tree AI?

At its most basic form, perhaps users could click on an existing building and see the AI’s top few predicted buildings (with its current choice at the top, I imagine). If a user thinks that a different autogen building from the list would be more accurate in its place, a user could select it and effectively vote for it to replace the existing building. Hopefully this could result in a more accurate world - both in the locations that users have “edited”, but also in unedited areas if the AI is able to train itself better due to the user interventions elsewhere.

A more ambitious (but also more difficult) version would be if users were able to make more detailed edits to the trees and buildings, ie not being forced to select from a couple of AI suggested autogen buildings. I guess it would be a bit like having add-ons for the whole world (where edited) automatically downloaded and installed. The downside of course is that it would be more at risk of vandalism or simply conflicting visual styles - there would need to be a robust trust system of some kind in place.

In both above versions, I would of course imagine this “user edited” world version to be optional, a bit like we can toggle on or off photogrammetry currently.

This was just a (half-baked!) idea I had when thinking about the AI and would be interested to hear any thoughts about it

I’ve not heard anything about training the AI, but last Q&A about a scenery gateway system (to be called “MSFS Scenery Hub”) will be implemented:

Clarification on Scenery Getway system:

Martial – We call MSFS Scenery Hub. This tool is web based, everybody can register and contribute by going to the website and download a Dev mode project. In the dev mode, you can enter the edition mode. What we did so far is mostly dedicated to data. For the moment, we are not talking about putting custom meshes there, but it will help us to improve all data there (Better placement for all buildings and improvement airports for instance). You can then upload your edition to the Scenery Hub to be validated and implemented within an update.

Ah I had not seen that, sounds good!

Using the phrase “scenery gateway” in a search I now also found the below large wishlist topic which is discussing a variation on the second option I mentioned. Thanks !

Allowing community members to directly edit and improve the scenery could be amazing if handled correctly. Obviously changes would need to be reviewed and approved so it would take a while, but over time the world would become more and more accurate.

I guess once community members became trusted and were shown to be reliable their access could be increased and they could potentially be allowed to edit and upload? That way dedicated scenery modders who wanted to transform a region and were on a trusted member list could do it much more quickly.
