Cowansims B206B Released

Just to note, The Flyinside FM is made by the owner/pilot of a 206, so you can be sure he knows exactly how it should fly and will have done everything possible to get it a close to the real thing as feasible. There are still a few things to tweak but he has said more updates will be out next week.

What is the experience of other VR pilots? For me the FPS are currently rather poor (compared to other aircraft). I have a G2 with a 3080Tiā€¦ Is it due to the very detailed cockpit textures? Hopefully this will be optimizedā€¦

For me the VR performance is nice and smooth and better than the Flyinside 206. I also have a G2 and a 2070Super.

Thatā€™s interesting, mine is much worse than the Flyinside. I wonder what makes the difference, just shows how impossible the task must be for developers to balance the performance of their product over all/most the different hardware configs out thereā€¦

I have to say, I really love the Flyinside. Itā€™s really getting me into helicopters for the first time. As a simmer I find the flight model realistic and challenging.

I bought the x-plane 12 Cowansim version and it is also nice, especially for the current sale price, but it is much, much easier to control and fly.

I think the Flyinside feels more realistic and is certainly more challenging.

Would love to hear more about how real pilots feel about the flight models though.

At some point I may get the MSFS Cowan version down the line, but the fact you canā€™t bind the helicopter throttle to hardware is absurd. Everyone else does; why are they blaming Asobo?

Do they? Thatā€™s ridiculous, considering that the Flyinside 206 as a direct competitor has a throttle that is perfectly usable with prop lever bindings.

the issue is likely combining throttle with condition lever behavior for the turboshaft - thatā€™s essentially what throttle does during turboshaft startup. Cabri helicopter throttle doesnā€™t have that, itā€™s a piston engine. No need to model hot starts.

Flyinside probably injects their custom logic and can have it bound to whatever, such as prop axis.

Textures, agreed, needs improvement.

3D model is a bit inaccurate to JetRanger III because itā€™s
externally NOT a JetRanger III. I understand the confusion 206B is so iconic many outlets even called FI the 206B-3

FlyInside is a fairly accurate external model of the older, uglier Bell 206A as seen for example in 007: For Your Eyes only, (with different skids but that happens)

From the manual of the FlyInside 206:

Welcome to the FlyInside B-206. With this aircraft, weā€™ve authentically
recreated a 1982 B-206B-3 JetRanger with 250-C20B turbine engine for
Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Since FlyInsideā€™s RotorRick actually owns the real helicopter that the flightsim model is based on, I doubt that they made that kind of mistake.

But if they did: What exactly are the differences between those models? Because when I look at images of 206B IIIs for sale, they look exactly like the FlyInside one, down to the grating of the engine covers.

itā€™s more of a hunch, I think the lines are a bit different. Yeah, I know. BUT, I found something pretty specific as well:

heliswiss Agusta-Bell 206A, notice tail rotor gearbox inspection window and old tail rotor gearbox cover with molded, protruding TR axle hole

N9422, one of liveries used in FI B206, notice old tail rotor gerbox cowling in great detail, BELL 206A

later has a grate or window but a slightly diff cowling shape - bent plate cut around TR axis.

Finally, flyinside in blender. Single piece with a molded tail rotor axle hole:

Exactly the same as in N9422 B206A

Does it mean the claim of 206B-3 is a lie? Not necessarily, there were conversion kits. They may have a 206A converted to 206B-3 via engine retrofit but the shape will be weird for a B-3 due to old airframe parts/lines

Neither one for me. My new HPG H145 is still gathering dust in the hangar. Awesome bird but havent had the time to play with it. Gonna spend some one on one quality time on it these holidays.

Amazing model, I love it. There are still things to improve, but it will be great.

Canā€™t wait to give it a try.

Does the Cowansims B206B use the MS Helicopter flight model?
Is there more technical information, like handbook available for download before buy?
I just bought the flyinside B206 and love it. But I also love the new B407 and Cabri with the MS flight model. So maybe I will buy the Cowansims one too?
The exterior and interior models are different so why not?

Yes, it uses the MSFS native model which is a big plus for me. Not a fan at all of the Flyinside approach with their external plugin for the FM.

Is anyone else having black Avionic Screens in AAU I Beta?

No, itā€™s likely a mod conflict if youā€™re getting black screens

You were right^^. It was my own GTN mod.

thanks.
