COWS DA42 Released!

Still no update on xbox… Allready weeks aftet pc… Not good.

But it’s not available in the marketplace (yet) on PC either. The developers don’t have any say in how quickly stuff gets added.

Literally 7 days no video games.

Absolutely barbaric.

We just truly love your creations!

I know you guys want the update immediately, but asking everyday is not going to make it appear any faster.

The file is submitted and its updated when its updated.

Sorry, my mistake about pc update live, it was other plane - airvan and sws mistake, they just sent pc update and forgot to submit xbox update version:folded_hands::smirking_face:

Great job on the model, very photogenic! :raising_hands:

Hurray, version 1.2.4 is now live on the Marketplace! Thank you COWS for an amazing update (and for fixing the navlight leaking through the wing tips that I reported earlier), you are the best. By the way, the COWS DA40 also got updated today.

The manual is on the Diamond website for free download in PDF. There are quite a few outdated manuals on the web. This AFM is dated 2012 with revisions for Oct 2024. It is the latest I could find. The title is DA 42 NG AFM which covers V1. I would not use 3rd party like manuals lib etc. Go to the source and make sure the link refers to da42 V1

After your last update I already have flown more than 50 hours on DA42 alone (in addition to approx. the same amount on DA40), and I fell so much in love with both the Diamond aircraft in general and their implementation by COWS that I completely lost interest in other modern GA aircraft (at least for now).

You guys has absolutely stunning attention to detail. Here are just a few examples that come to mind:

  • Custom waypoints imported from SimBrief have correct short names, while on other aircraft, regardless of the developer, custom waypoints often have long names that just do not fit the space available for them.
  • When switching to the passenger camera, the field of view is different than when using the pilot camera, making sightseeing from the passenger seat so enjoyable (this one detail alone pleasantly surprised me; a special thank you to whoever at COWS came up with this idea).
  • I love how custom settings are hidden behind the engine menu, a very slick solution (BTW, sometimes I fly via GeForce Now cloud gaming service, and COWS is the only third-party aircraft that properly saves settings between streaming sessions for some reason, probably because they store settings using standard means, as stated in the SDK).
  • Wingflex. I know it doesn’t affect the flight model in MSFS, but it adds so much to visual realism. I just love watching the wings in turbulent air, and I don’t know why probably 95% of other developers cannot implement wing flex in their aircraft.
  • Implementation of the wide view when viewing a flight plan, from my experience, you are the only developer who has implemented it!
  • Vy on DA42 (Vx on DA40) speed is set automatically when FLC mode is engaged - very convenient, such a nice little touch!
  • Stall characteristics. I watched a video about the Diamond engineering philosophy, and one of the features is that they use quite long wings, and when a stall occurs, there is always a part of the wing where stall is absent, making a dangerous roll-off or spin extremely difficult to achieve. And this behavior so well implemented in the flight model, in both DA40 and DA42, you can try it yourself!
  • All updates and improvements are almost immediately synchronized between the DA40 and DA42. I own both, and love seeing these QOL improvements on both aircraft.

I could continue this list almost indefinitely. It’s a real pleasure to use a product made with such great care, and I hope to see COWS develop another aircraft, maybe Diamond, such as DA62, or some other modern GA aircraft with glass cockpit.

All that stuff is bare minimum honestly. Unfortunately most aircraft don’t get the basics right and add fluff.

I just want to say that when implementing certain features at COWS, you might think that almost no one will notice or appreciate some of them, but I assure you they are (and will be) noticed and appreciated by the simmers; it’s just that we may not always write about it.

The aircraft’s design is simply too beautiful!

The goal is for features to be seemless and natural.

If they stick out, then they haven’t been polished enough.

If I buy DA42 (or 40 or perhaps both of them, I have to think about that) from the ORBX sale or from the MP, do I get the latest version of the aircraft(s) or do I have to update it?

And another: is there a manual for you to download before the purchase?

Buy on Orbx if possible, you will get the latest version when downloading and you wil get updates way before MP.

I am confused.
Have you bought a plane and not gotten the most up-to-date version?

The manual can be found on orbx and on the discord.

I am about to buy it. So I’m not yet owner of it.

Is the Discord really only way to get the manual? If so, that’s bad for us non-Discord-users.

its on ORBX and Discord

Thank you. How I didn’t find that…
